The Yale Bulldogs men's ice hockey team represents Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut and is the oldest collegiate ice hockey team in the United States. The Bulldogs compete in the Ivy League and the ECAC Hockey League (ECACHL) and play their home games at Ingalls Rink, also called the Yale Whale. The current head coach is Keith Allain, who led the Bulldogs to an Ivy League championship in his first year as head coach. Allain is assisted by former QU/UND goaltender, Josh Siembida. On April 13, 2013, the Bulldogs shut out Quinnipiac 4–0 to win their first NCAA Division I Championship.
The 1972 NCAA Men's University Division Ice Hockey Tournament was the culmination of the 1971–72 NCAA University Division men's ice hockey season, the 25th such tournament in NCAA history. It was held between March 16 and 18, 1972, and concluded with Boston University defeating Cornell 4-0. All games were played at the Boston Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.
Eric John "Rick" Bennett is a retired American ice hockey left winger. He is currently the head coach of the Union Dutchmen ice hockey team at Union College where he is under contract to coach through the 2022-23 season. He has led the Dutchmen to three ECAC Hockey regular season titles, three ECAC Hockey tournament titles, four NCAA Tournament appearances, two Frozen Fours and one NCAA championship title (2014) by defeating Minnesota. Bennett won ECAC Hockey's Tim Taylor Award for conference coach of the year twice and won the American Hockey Coaches Association's Spencer Penrose Award for NCAA Division I coach of the year in 2014.

The Vermont Catamounts men's ice hockey team is a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I college ice hockey program that represents the University of Vermont. The Catamounts are a member of Hockey East, joining in 2005 after competing in ECAC Hockey from 1974-2005. They play home games at Gutterson Fieldhouse in Burlington, Vermont. Sam Anas is an American professional ice hockey forward. He is currently playing for the Iowa Wild in the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect for the Minnesota Wild of the National Hockey League (NHL). While growing up in Potomac, Maryland, he attended Landon School. Later, he attended Quinnipiac University. He became the second player that played in the Montgomery Youth Hockey Association (MYHA) to sign an NHL contract.
The 1995 ECAC Hockey Men's Ice Hockey Tournament was the 34th tournament in league history. It was played between March 7 and March 18, 1995. Preliminary and quarterfinal games were played at home team campus sites, while the 'final four' games were played at the Olympic Arena in Lake Placid, New York. By winning the tournament, Rensselaer received the ECAC's automatic bid to the 1995 NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Tournament.
Tim Taylor was an American ice hockey head coach. He was born Timothy Blake Taylor in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in South Natick, Massachusetts. He was the long-time head coach of the Yale Bulldogs from 1976-77 until his retirement in 2005-06 season. He twice took leaves of absence from his collegiate duties to coach the US Olympic Team as well as serving as Team USA's head coach for the 1989 World Ice Hockey Championships and the 1991 Canada Cup. At the time of his retirement Taylor had served as Yale's head ice hockey coach for longer than anyone else, earning more wins (337) and losses (433) for the Bulldogs than all others. The respect Taylor had earned over his career was exemplified by ECAC Hockey renaming its annual coaches award in his honor shortly after his retirement as well as the NCAA renaming its national rookie-of-the-Year award after him a few months after his death. In 2015 he was named the recipient of the Legends of College Hockey Award, by the Hobey Baker Memorial Award Committee.
Mike Gilligan is a retired American ice hockey coach. He was the head coach at Vermont from 1983 through 2003 and later became an assistant with the UVM women's team for seven more seasons before retiring in 2014.
