Association Sportive et Culturelle Jeanne d'Arc or ASC Jeanne d'Arc for a short is a Senegalese football club based in Dakar. It was founded in 1923 and one of the oldest in the country. The season began on 13 December 2003 and finished on 9 October 2004. ASC Diaraf won the tenth title, the next club in Senegal to win the tenth title after ASC Jeanne d'Arc last season. The 2015–16 Ligue 1 is the 51st season of top-tier football in Senegal and the eighth professional season. The season began on 8 November 2015. Gorée, an island based club though plays at Dakar's stadium clinched their fourth league title and first since 1984 in the league's final week with a 3-0 road win over last-place Olympique Ngor. In the cup competition, NGB ASC Niarry Tally, winner of the 2015 Senegalese Cup will participate for the first time in the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup the following season. Gorée participated in Ligue 2 and finished second in the previous season, one of the few clubs who was in the top of second-tier competition last season to win a title of a first tier competition in West Africa.

The 2014-15 Ligue 1 season was the 52nd of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal and the seventh professional season. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began earlier on 6 December and finished later on 26 July. It was the seventh season labelled as a "League". AS Douanes won their sixth and recent title and qualified into the 2016 CAF Champions League. Génération Foot, winner of the 2015 Senegalese Cup qualified for the first time in the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup the following season.

The 2016–17 Ligue 1 was the 52nd season of top-tier football in Senegal and the ninth professional season. The season began on 4 November 2016. Gorée are the defending champions.
