A timing belt is a non-slipping mechanical drive belt and the term may refer to either:

Toothed belt type of mechanical drive belt

A toothed belt; timing belt; cogged belt; cog belt; or synchronous belt is a flexible belt with teeth moulded onto its inner surface. It is designed to run over matching toothed pulleys or sprockets. Toothed belts are used in a wide array of in mechanical devices, where high-power transmission is desired.

A timing belt is usually a toothed belt—a drive belt with teeth on the inside surface. A timing chain is a roller chain.

An Injection Pump is the device that pumps diesel into the cylinders of a diesel engine. Traditionally, the injection pump is driven indirectly from the crankshaft by gears, chains or a toothed belt that also drives the camshaft. It rotates at half crankshaft speed in a conventional four-stroke diesel engine. Its timing is such that the fuel is injected only very slightly before top dead centre of that cylinder's compression stroke. It is also common for the pump belt on gasoline engines to be driven directly from the camshaft. In some systems injection pressures can be as high as 620 bar.

Renault Energy engine

The Renault Energy engine also known as "E engine" or "E-Type" is an automotive gasoline four-stroke inline four cylinder internal combustion engine, with a sleeved water cooled cast iron block, equipped with 5 crankshaft bearings, an overhead camshaft driven by a toothed timing belt and an aluminum cylinder head with 8 overhead valves. Developed and produced by Renault in the late 1980s, the engine made its first appearance in the Renault 19.

The S series is a straight-4 SOHC internal combustion engine developed by the Austin Rover Group, and produced from 1984 until 1993. The engine was used in the Austin Montego, Mark 1 Rover 200-series and the MG Maestro. The engine was used in the Austin Maestro from 1985 onwards.
