Timmins is a city in northeastern Ontario, Canada, on the Mattagami River. The city is the fourth-largest city in the Northeastern Ontario region with a population of 41,788 (2016). The city's economy is based on natural resource extraction and is supported by industries related to lumbering and to the mining of gold, zinc, copper, nickel and silver. Timmins serves as a regional service and distribution centre. The city has a large Francophone community, with more than 50% bilingual in French and English.

2015 Chicago mayoral election

An election took place on February 24, 2015, to elect the mayor of Chicago. The election was non-partisan and no candidate received a majority. A runoff election was held between the top two finishers on April 7, 2015, and resulted in the reelection of incumbent mayor Rahm Emanuel. The elections were concurrent with the 2015 Chicago aldermanic elections.

2014 Ottawa municipal election

The Ottawa municipal election was held on October 27, 2014 to elect the mayor of Ottawa, Ottawa City Council and the Ottawa-Carleton Public and Catholic School Boards. The election was held on the same day as elections in every other municipality in Ontario.

Elections were held in the organized municipalities in the Cochrane District of Ontario on October 27, 2014 in conjunction with municipal elections across the province.

Steven L. Black is a Canadian politician, who served as mayor of Timmins, Ontario from 2014 to 2018. He was elected in the municipal election on October 27, 2014 defeating former Councillor Todd Lever by taking 65% of the vote, and becoming Timmins' youngest Mayor ever elected. He succeeded retiring mayor Tom Laughren.
