Timothy Brown (February 24, 1889 –December 31, 1977) was an American lawyer and judge from Wisconsin. He was the 18th Chief Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. [1]
Born in Madison, Wisconsin, Brown graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and received his law degree from Harvard Law School. During World War I, Brown served in the United States Navy. Brown practiced law in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and served as executive counsel to the Governor of Wisconsin. [2] In 1949, he joined the Wisconsin Supreme Court and in 1962 became chief justice of the court, retiring in 1964. [3] [4] [5]
Brown died in a nursing home on December 31, 1977, [3] leaving an estate valued at $3 million. [6]

Shirley Schlanger Abrahamson was the 25th chief justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court. An American lawyer and jurist, she was appointed to the court in 1976 by Governor Patrick Lucey, becoming the first female justice to serve on Wisconsin's highest court. She became the court's first female chief justice on August 1, 1996, and served in that capacity until April 29, 2015. In all, she served on the court for 43 years (1976–2019), making her the longest-serving justice in the history of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
Timothy Otis Howe was a member of the United States Senate for three terms, representing the state of Wisconsin from March 4, 1861, to March 3, 1879. He also served as U.S. Postmaster General under President Chester A. Arthur from 1881 until his death in 1883. Earlier in his career, he was a justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
