The Tirana–Elbasan Highway is a four-lane highway in central Albania and part of the A3 motorway opened to traffic on 16 June 2013, and completed in the summer of 2019. It covers the distance between the cities of Tirana and Elbasan in the shortest way possible and its total length is 16 kilometres (9.9 mi). [1]
$223M from the Islamic Bank for Reconstruction has partly financed the road construction. [1] The total construction cost is calculated at $400M. [2] Other banks financing the highway are the OPEC fund, the Abu Dhabi fund, and the Saudi Fund for development. [3]
The most important section consists of the Krrabe Tunnel, whose length is about 4.9 km. [4] The highway was opened to traffic when the construction of the entire route from Tirana to Elbasan was finalized as projected in June 2013 (18 months construction time). The highway was symbolically inaugurated by the former Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha on Sunday June 16, 2013. The highway was built without proper geological study resulting in the collapse of a hill section near Ibe. As a result, the completion of the highway was only finalized in the summer of 2019.
As of August 2016, the Tirane - TEG and Krrabe Tunnel - Elbasan segments were fully functional. The Mullet - Ibe segment was only functional on one side of the highway while the TEG - Mullet and Ibe - Krrabe Tunnel segments were until summer 2019 under construction. Also, due to safety concerns, the Krrabe Tunnel was only opened to traffic to flow on one lane per direction.
Tirana is the capital and largest city of Albania. It is located in the centre of the country, enclosed by mountains and hills with Dajti rising to the east and a slight valley to the northwest overlooking the Adriatic Sea in the distance. The Elbasan script is a mid 18th-century alphabetic script created for the Albanian language Elbasan Gospel Manuscript, also known as the Anonimi i Elbasanit, which is the only document written in it. The document was created at St. Jovan Vladimir's Church in central Albania, but is preserved today at the National Archives of Albania in Tirana. The script, like the manuscript, is named after the city of Elbasan, where it was invented, and although the manuscript isn't the oldest document written in Albanian, the script is the oldest out of seven known original scripts created for Albanian. Its 59 pages contain Biblical content written in a script of 40 letters, of which 35 frequently recur and 5 are rare.
Hekurudha Shqiptare or HSH(Albanian Railways) was the state-owned operator of the Albanian railway system and became a private company in 2005. The system's main passenger terminal was Durrës railway station in the port city of Durrës.

Tirana Logistic Park (TLP) offers logistic services in Albania. Tirana Logistic Park is a project of 3 "Class A" warehouses and industrial premises in the biggest industrial area of Albania, along the Tirana-Durrës highway. It is the first logistic park in Albania intended to help this country to attract more foreign investment. With its 80,000 square metres (860,000 sq ft) of buildings on 200,000 square metres (2,200,000 sq ft) of land, TLP is the first logistic and industrial Park in Albania, able to meet European standards in storage and manufacturing that combine different logistic modes and solutions. It is one of the most important investments in Albania and one of the biggest logistic parks in South East Europe. This logistic park was open on October this year.
The Highways in Albania are the central state and main transport network in Albania. The motorways and expressways are both part of the national road network. The motorways are primary roads with a speed limit of 110 kilometres per hour (68 mph). They have white on green road signs such as in Italy and other countries nearby. The expressways are the secondary roads, also dual carriageways, but without an emergency lane. They have a speed limit of 90 kilometres per hour (56 mph). They have white on blue road signs.
The R 7 Motorway, also commonly Autostrada Ibrahim Rugova, is the longest motorway in the Republic of Kosovo running 129.8 kilometres (80.7 mi) in the districts of Pristina and Prizren. It consists of two traffic lanes and an emergency lane in each driving direction separated by a central reservation.
Arena Kombëtare is an all-seater, multi-purpose football stadium located in the capital city of Tirana which was built on the ground of the former Qemal Stafa Stadium. The stadium has a seating capacity of 22,500 constituting the largest stadium in Albania.
