To the Hilt: Story from the Wild East (Macedonian : До балчак - Приказна од дивиот исток) is a 2014 Macedonian action-adventure Western film directed by Stole Popov. [1] The film takes place in Ottoman ruled Macedonia. The filming started in May, 2012 [2] and scenes were shot in Bitola, Ohrid, Skopje, Demir Hisar, Štip and Prilep. [3] It premiered in Skopje, in October 2014.
It was selected as the Macedonian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 87th Academy Awards, but was not nominated. [4] [5]
Goran Stefanovski was a leading Macedonian dramatist, screenwriter, essayist, lecturer and public intellectual. He wrote for the theatre, television and film, as well as pursuing a long academic career in teaching creative writing for the theatre and film.
Petar Stojkoviḱ is a Macedonian actor who works in theater, television and film. He is also an LGBT human rights activist.
Apostol Trpeski is a Macedonian cinematographer.
The Third Half is a 2012 Macedonian film directed by Darko Mitrevski. It deals with Macedonian football during World War II and the deportation of Jews from Macedonia. It is a story of love during wartime and a country's passion for football. The government of Macedonia considered the film of national interest and funded it with one million euros. The Third Half was selected as the Macedonian entry for Best Foreign Language at the 85th Academy Awards.
