The Bangladeshi Cinema, better known as Dhallywood, is the Bengali-language film industry based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It has often been a significant film industry since the early 1970s. The dominant style of Bangladeshi cinema is melodramatic cinema, which developed from 1947 to 1990 and characterizes most films to this day. Cinema was introduced in Bangladesh in 1898 by the Bradford Bioscope Company, credited to have arranged the first film release in Bangladesh. Between 1913 and 1914, the first production company, Picture House, was opened. A 1928 short silent film titled Sukumari was the first Bengali-produced film in the region. The first full-length film, The Last Kiss, was released in 1931.
Mahiya Sharmin Akter Nipa, known as Mahiya Mahi, is a Bangladeshi film actress. She is considered as the current highest paid actress of Bangladeshi film industry. She made her debut in the film Bhalobashar Rong in 2012 which was a huge financial success.

Bhalobasha Aaj Kal is a Dhallywood romantic comedy film directed by P A Kajol and produced by Jaaz Multimedia. The film features Shakib Khan and Mahiya Mahi in lead roles. It is the first collaboration between Khan and Jaaz Multimedia and the first between Khan and Mahiya Mahi. Filming began on 2 February 2013, and was wrapped up by June 2013. The film was released on Eid-ul-Fitr on 9 August 2013. Upon release, the film received positive reviews and declared as a superhit at box office. Also, was highest-grossing film of Jaaz Multimedia production till Shikari released.
Symon Sadik is a Bangladeshi film actor, assistant director, lyricist, model and politician. His films are predominantly in Dhallywood cinema. He is the current Assistant General Secretary of the Bangladesh Film Artists' Association. He made his debut as a lead in the Bangladeshi film Ji Hujur (2012). And he won Bioscope Borsho-sera awards for Best acting in Poramon (2013). He also won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Actor for his role in the film Jannat (2018).
Prem Prem Paglami is a Bangladeshi romantic and action drama film directed by Shafi Uddin Shafi. The film was produced by Diganta Kathchitra. The film featured Bappy Chowdhury, Achol, Amit Hasan and Shiva Shanu. Prem Prem Paglami was released on 60 screens. According to the Dhaka Tribune, the film received positive responses from the audience and "did good business". The movie is a remake of 2008 Indian Telugu language movie Krishna.
