Uppala is a town and Headquarters of Manjeshwaram Taluk in Kasaragod district, Kerala, India. It is geographically located midway from Kasaragod to Mangalore. Easy geographical access and lack of major towns nearby are the key reasons for the town to develop exponentially, especially in the past decade. The population of Manjeshwaram Taluk alone was over 268,642 as of 2011. Uppala is 22 km north of Kasaragod and one of the fastest growing urban settlements in Kasaragod district. It is well known as an important trade hub in the northernmost part of Kerala state.
Thokottu is a commercial junction to the south of Mangalore city on National Highway 66 and the gateway to Mangalore city from the South (Kerala). It is one of the major and busiest junctions of Mangalore city wherein one road goes towards east to Deralakatte and Konaje, educational hubs with several premium educational institutions and few information technology companies, the other road towards west goes to Ullal. This junction connects Mangalore city, second major city of Karnataka with Talapady and Kerala. A flyover is constructed in the junction to reduce the congestion for the travellers travelling between Mangalore city and Kerala. The creation of educational institutions in Deralakatte and Konaje has led to the construction of many commercial complexes in the area.
Hampankatta is the centre of Mangalore City, Karnataka. Hampankatta also called as Happananakatte/Hampankatte/Hampananakatte/Hampanakatte. Most of the public utilities are located here and the locality boasts the most buzzing commercial activity in the city. Hampanakkatte was named by the British in 1920. Its original name was 'Appanakatte'. It was named after a person called Appanna Poojary who constructed a 'well' in the region around 1900, hence it was named Appannakatte. He used to feed his bullock cart etc. in those days and used to take rest.

It lies in the Shoranur–Mangalore section of the Southern Railways. Almost all passenger, Superfast and express trains have a halt here. The station has three platforms and four tracks. Though no trains originate from this station, trains halting at the station connect the town to prominent cities in India such as Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Kozhikode, Kollam, Thrissur, Kannur, Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Coimbatore, Pondicherry, New Delhi, Mangalore, Pune, Jaipur, Jammu Tawi, Okha, Ahmedabad, Kolkata and so on. This is an "A" class railway station which earns more than 30 crore per annum. It has now been upgraded to a Model Railway Station (Adarsh). The first railway line in Kerala was commissioned on 12 March 1861 from Beypore to Tirur. The proposed high-speed rail has a stop in Tirur. The new backside entrance and parking area are being set up on the eastern side of the station, opening to Tirur Market.

Mookambika Road Byndoor is a railway station in coastal Karnataka in South India. Its four-letter code is BYNR. Mookambika Road Byndoor is the main railway station in the town of Byndoor in Udupi district. It serves Byndoor city which is 1 kilometre away from the station. It is the nearest railway station to the famous pilgrimage centre, Kollur Mookambika temple. The distance from Byndoor railway station to Kollur Mookambika temple is about 28 km which can be covered in 40 minutes to one hour by road. Trains from here connect the city to prominent state capitals of India like Bangalore (Karnataka), Thiruvananthapuram, Mumbai and so forth. It is also well connected to the major railway stations such as Goa (Madgoan), Udupi, Mangalore, Kasaragod and Ernakulam. Rail connectivity in Byndoor was established in 1997. A total of 34 express and passenger trains halt here; there was one originating and terminating trains at this station: Mookambika Road–Kannur Passenger train; however this service was terminated in 2017 within two years of service due to lack of revenue generation. Although the railway station caters to a lot of passengers and superfast trains on a daily basis, it does not have a siding line or passing loop. Any crossing of trains can only happen either on Bijoor or Shiroor railway stations 19 km apart.
