Nazir is often referred to as Nithyaharitha Nayakan. Nazir began his career as a stage actor and made his film debut with the 1952 film Marumakal. He took on the stage name Prem Nazir on the sets of his second film, Visappinte Vili (1952). Nazir rose to stardom during the 1950s to become one of the biggest superstars from the 1950s to his death in 1989. He is most famous for being a romantic actor. After 1985, he intentionally moved from main hero roles to character roles as he wanted to do all kinds of characters, as other artists do.

Nargis Dutt, also known by her stage name Nargis, was an Indian film actress, who starred in classic films of Bollywood. The heist film or caper film is a subgenre of crime film. One of the early defining heist films was The Asphalt Jungle (1950), which Film Genre 2000 wrote "almost single-handedly popularized the genre for mainstream cinema". It featured robbers whose personal failings ultimately led to the failure of their robbery. Similar films using this formula were Armored Car Robbery (1950), The Killing (1956), and The Getaway (1972). By the 1990s, heist films "experiment and play with these conventions" and focused more on character relationships than the crime itself.
