Thomas James "Tom" Gray (born January 6, 1945) is a retired American speed skater who specialized in the 500-meter sprint. In this event he finished in 14th and 21st place at the 1964 and 1968 Winter Olympics, respectively. He won this distance at the 1966 world championships and finished second in 1967. He attended the University of Minnesota and in the late 1960s served in the US Air Force. [1]

In the Olympic Games, long-track speed skating is usually referred to as just "speed skating", while short-track speed skating is known as "short track". The ISU, the governing body of both ice sports, refers to long track as "speed skating" and short track as "short track skating".

Speed skating at the 1964 Winter Olympics, was held from 30 January to 7 February. Eight events were contested at the Eisschnelllaufbahn Innsbruck.

Speed skating at the 1968 Winter Olympics, was held from 4 to 12 February. Eight events were contested at L'Anneau de Vitesse in Grenoble, France.

Vladimir Dmitriyevich Komarov was a Russian speed skater. He competed at the 1972 Winter Olympics in the 500 m and finished in 14th place. After retiring from competitions he graduated from an institute of physical education in Moscow Oblast (1979) and worked as a speed skating coach. He was the head coach of the Moscow team in the 1980s. He is the president of the Russian Speed Skating Federation and a member of the national Olympic commeettee. He married Natalya Petrusyova, a Soviet Olympic speed skater.

Günter Traub German speed skater

Günter Traub is a German speed skater. He competed in all speed skating events at the 1964 and 1968 Winter Olympics. His best achievement was 11th place in the 5000 m in 1964 and in 10000 m in 1968. During his career, Traub set two point-scoring world records in all-around speed skating, in 1963 and in 1968. He also won four national all-around titles, in 1961–1963 and 1968.

Gerhard "Gerd" Zimmermann is a retired German speed skater. He competed at the 1964, 1968 and 1972 Winter Olympics in the 500, 1500, 5000 and 1000 m distances, for Germany and then for West Germany. His best achievements were seventh and eighth place in the 10000 m in 1964 and 1972, respectively.
