Thomas James Lees (16 June 1858 – 11 July 1947) was an Australian boxer and the second reported person to hold the title Heavyweight Champion of Australia, from May 1885 to September 1886.

During a long career in boxing he fought bouts in South Africa, USA, Canada and the UK as well as in Australasia. "He won and held the Australian championship against some of the best men in the world," [1] including such famous heavyweight boxers as Peter Jackson, Joe Goddard and Bob Fitzsimmons. His record comes to: 16 wins (9 by knockout), 10 losses, 5 draws and 13 no decisions.

Burns took on all challengers as Heavyweight Champion, leading to his legendary bout with the African American Jack Johnson. According to his biographer, Burns insisted, "I will defend my title against all comers, none barred. By this I mean white, black, Mexican, Indian, or any other nationality. I propose to be the champion of the world, not the white, or the Canadian, or the American. If I am not the best man in the heavyweight division, I don't want the title."

Rocco Francis Marchegiano, better known as Rocky Marciano, was an American professional boxer who competed from 1947 to 1955. He held the world heavyweight championship from 1952 to 1956, and remains the only heavyweight champion to finish his career undefeated. His six title defenses were against Jersey Joe Walcott, Roland La Starza, Ezzard Charles (twice), Don Cockell and Archie Moore.

Floyd Patterson was an American professional boxer who competed from 1952 to 1972, and twice reigned as the world heavyweight champion between 1956 and 1962. Nicknamed Ruby Robert and The Freckled Wonder, he took pride in his lack of scars and appeared in the ring wearing heavy woollen underwear to conceal the disparity between his trunk and leg-development.

George Oywello was a Ugandan boxer. Born in Gulu, Uganda, Oywello competed for Uganda in both the 1960 Olympics in Rome and the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo. In 1964 boxing in the heavyweight competition he was beaten by eventual gold medal winner, Joe Frazier. He died in a car accident in 1965.
