Top Gear: Turbo Challenge was a fortnightly partwork magazine published by BBC Magazines in the United Kingdom. Each issue was priced at £2.50 and came with a pack of trading cards. It is based on the popular BBC TV series, Top Gear and is mostly aimed at children. Top Gear: Turbo Challenge ceased publishing after issue 52 once the Platinum card set was completed.



As well as a trading cards there were also some other items accompanying some issues. The first issue came with two packets of Trading cards instead of the usual single packet. Issues 2 and 3 came with parts to build The Stig's helmet to keep the trading cards in. Issues 1-3 also came with parts of a buildable poster of The Stig which also featured a check list of the trading cards available. Issue 2 included a bonus Stig mask and issue 3 also included a bonus door hanger.

Extra Cards

The second wave of trading cards was Top Gear: Turbo Challenge Extra. Packets were once again provided with issues of the magazine and were also available to buy as single packs.

Platinum Cards

The third wave of trading cards was the Limited Edition Platinum Collection. This set consists of 105 cards including three Ultimate Rare Presenter Autograph cards which are available as bonus cards in issues 36 (the issue in which the collection first started), 44 and 52. Each pack contains five rare and one super rare card. The Platinum Collection packs are exclusive to the magazine and different cards are provided with each issue to prevent duplicates.

There is a website for fans of the magazine featuring free games based on challenges from the TV show and a 'garage' where users can log their cards. links the BBC’s fortnightly magazine partwork Top Gear Turbo Challenge and the collectable cards that come with the magazine or are available separately. These three elements provide three distinct entry points for the brand and support each other with the magazine promoting the collectable cards and card codes unlocking game content and power-ups on the website. The free games and power-ups are central to the experience, working hand-in-hand with unique trading card codes and magazine editorial to maximise the engagement, reward the user and ultimately drive subscriptions.

The UK, Ireland and South African versions of the website are now closed. The Australian version is still open.


Complaints have been raised about the total cost of the collection which will be in the region of £1000.00. [3] With some children already complaining of high numbers of duplicate cards in the packs supplied on the cover of the magazine it would appear this may be an underestimate of the collection's total cost.

Doctor Who – Battles in Time is an out-of-print trading card game and fortnightly magazine from the partwork publishers GE Fabbri, who acquired the license to produce Battles in Time. The game and magazine were first released in mid-April 2006 in two 'test-regions' in the United Kingdom and was made available across the UK on 20 September 2006. The magazine was released in Australia a few months later. However, only in South Australia was it made available in newsagents. In the rest of Australia it was available by subscription with the distributor only. The subscription and back issue services have now been removed from the official website. Battles in Time magazines are no longer available and the last issue was released on 13 May 2009.

Panini is an Italian company headquartered in Modena, Italy, named after the Panini brothers who founded it in 1961. The company produces books, comics, magazines, stickers, trading cards and other items through its collectibles and publishing subsidiaries. Panini distributes its own products, and products of third party providers. Panini maintains a Licensing Division to buy and resell licences and provide agency for individuals and newspapers seeking to purchase rights and comic licences. Through Panini Digital the company uses voice-activated software to capture football statistics, which is then sold to agents, teams, media outlets and video game manufactures.

<i>Quest</i> (British magazine) British technology magazine

Quest was a collectable magazine published by Marshall Cavendish as part of their 'Partworks' educational range from the late 1980s and early 1990s, covering a range of science and technology related topics, such as construction, cities, transport and drugs. The magazine was available in fortnightly, hole-punched editions which would often come with a collectable element, such as playing cards for a 'trivial pursuit-like game' or cardboard models. There were 60 regular issues – enough to fill three official binders which came with special editions of the magazine.

WWE Immortals was a fighting game based on the professional wrestling promotion WWE. It was released on January 15, 2015 for Android and iOS. The game was developed by NetherRealm Studios in conjunction with Phosphor Game Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game was free on both app stores. On February 28, 2019, the game was shut down and no longer sold in-app purchases as of December 31, 2018.

Judge Dredd: The Mega Collection is a fortnightly partwork collection of hardback books published by Hachette Partworks. The series is made up of 90 volumes which contain thematic collections of stories about 2000 AD’s Judge Dredd and related characters, as well as bonus material including previously unpublished art. The spine art on the books combine to display a new image by artist Patrick Goddard. The series was also accompanied by the launch of a series of podcasts called '2000 AD Thrill-Casts' which, after the 6th episode, widened its focus to 2000 AD in general. On 5 July 2017 it was officially announced that the series had been extended from 80 to 90 issues.

DC Comics Graphic Novel Collection is a fortnightly partwork magazine published by Eaglemoss Collections and DC Comics in the UK. The series is a collection of special edition hardback graphic novels, collecting significant DC Comics superhero story-arcs as well as bonus origin stories for the characters within.
