The Simpsons shorts are an American animated TV series of 48 one-minute shorts that ran on the variety television program The Tracey Ullman Show for three seasons, before the characters spun off into The Simpsons, their own half-hour prime-time show. It features Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The series was created by Matt Groening, who designed the Simpson family and wrote many of the shorts. The shorts first aired on April 19, 1987 starting with "Good Night". The final short to air was "TV Simpsons", originally airing on May 14, 1989. The Simpsons later debuted on December 17, 1989, as an independent series with the Christmas special "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire".
Tracey Takes On... is an American sketch comedy series starring Tracey Ullman. The show ran for four seasons on HBO and was commissioned after the success of the 1993 comedy special Tracey Ullman Takes On New York. Each episode focuses on specific subject in which Ullman and her cast characters comment on or experience through a series of sketches and monologues.

In 1982 Ken won an Emmy Award for Best Writing in a Comedy Series for the episode "Elegant Iggy" featuring Christopher Lloyd on Taxi and in 1989 he won an Emmy Award for producing The Tracey Ullman Show. Ken has had an additional eleven Emmy Award nominations. Furthermore, he won the 1979 Writers Guild of America Award. Estin received a special "thank you" credit in the feature film Big, and he rewrote the screenplay for Beverly Hills Cop.

Ullman wrote a monthly column. The web site was launched in November 1999 and co-founded by Stephanie Laing and Jeannine Braden.
