Tretes is a mountain tourist area in East Java, Indonesia. This area is located 60 km south of Surabaya, the capital city of East Java, and its administrative is part of Prigen, Pasuruan Regency. Tretes area is located on the slopes mountain of Arjuno-Welirang. The area is a popular area for tourism. This area is located at an altitude of 600–900 meters above sea level. [1]
The word of Tretes comes from the water dripping sounds like "tes" "tes". This can be seen by the presence of a source of water dripping in the cracks of the stone walls in the Dong Biru area (located near the area of Kakek Bodo tourist attractions and from the direction of Surabaya located on the right side of the main road). Since a long time ago the Tretes was known as one of the main rest areas in Java because of its natural scenic and cool air. Tretes was once known as the rest area of the Dutch colonial people. In this area, there are many Dutch heritage buildings. Usually in the form of a European-style wooden house, which at this time the number began to decrease due to poorly maintained. Many of the villa's buildings have been demolished. Some of the building's names are Dong De (Gedung Gede), Dong Koco (Glass Building), Dong Ijo, Dong Biru, Eskam (currently Surya Hotel). There is not much history of Tretes that can be known, one of the places that is a silent witness to history is the existence of ancient tombs in Gang Kramat 77 Pesanggrahan which is a tomb from the forerunner of the population of Tretes. Mount Arjuno-Welirang is a stratovolcano in the province of East Java in Java, Indonesia. Mount Arjuno-Welirang lies about 50 kilometers south of Surabaya, and 20 kilometers north of Malang. It is a twin volcano, with the 'twins' being Arjuno and Welirang. There is at least one other stratovolcano in the area, and there are around 10 pyroclastic cones nearby. They are located in a 6 km line between Arjuno and Welirang. The Arjuno-Welirang volcanic complex itself lies in the older two volcanoes, Mount Ringgit to the east and Mount Linting to the south. The summit lacks vegetation. Fumarolic areas with sulfur deposits are found in several locations in Welirang.
Mount Penanggungan is a small stratovolcano, immediately north of Arjuno-Welirang volcanic complex in East Java province, Java island, Indonesia. Mount Penanggungan is about 40 kilometers (24.8 mi) south of Surabaya, and can be seen from there on a clear day. Several Hindu-Buddhist sanctuaries, sacred places and monuments are on the mountain dating from AD 977–1511. Lava flows and pyroclastic deposits are around the volcano.
The Brantas is the longest river in East Java, Indonesia. It has a length of 320 km, and drains an area of over 11,000 km2 from the southern slope of Mount Kawi-Kelud-Butak, Mount Wilis, and the northern slopes of Mount Liman-Limas, Mount Welirang, and Mount Anjasmoro. Its course is semi-circular or spiral in shape: at its source, the river heads southeast, but gradually curves south, then southwest, west, then north, and finally it flows generally eastward at the point where it branches off to become the Kalimas and Porong River.

Jawi temple is a syncretic Hindu-Buddhist candi (temple) dated from the late 13th century Singhasari kingdom. The temple is located on the eastern slope of Mount Welirang, Candi Wates village, Kecamatan Prigen, Pasuruan, East Java, Indonesia, approximately 31 kilometers west of Pasuruan city or 41 kilometers south of Surabaya. The temple is located on the main road between Kecamatan Pandaan – Kecamatan Prigen and Pringebukan. The temple was thought to be a Hindu-Buddhist place of worship, however, the temple was dedicated as a mortuary temple to honor King Kertanegara, the last king of Singhasari. It is believed that the ashes of the late king were also placed in two more temples, the Singhasari temple and the Jago temple.
