Ronald Gordon King-Smith OBE, Hon.MEd, was a prolific English writer of children's books, primarily using the pen name Dick King-Smith. He is best known for The Sheep-Pig (1983), or Babe the Gallant Pig in the US. It was adapted as the movie Babe (1995) and translations have been published in fifteen languages. He was awarded an Honorary Master of Education degree by the University of the West of England in 1999 and appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2010 New Year Honours. Dick and Myrle had three children – two daughters and one son (Giles). Dick King-Smith's first book, The Foxbusters, was published in 1978.

Mount Blue State Park is a public recreation area covering 7,489 acres (3,031 ha) in the town of Weld, Franklin County, Maine. The state park's bifurcated land includes acreage on the west shore of Webb Lake as well as Mount Blue and other peaks to the east of the lake. The park is connected by road with the 10,555-acre (4,271 ha) Tumbledown Public Lands, the site of Little Jackson Mountain, Tumbledown Mountain, and Tumbledown Pond, an alpine lake near the top of Tumbledown and Little Jackson mountains. The park and public lands are managed by the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry.

Robert Alasdair Davidson Lawrence MC is a former British Army officer who was severely wounded while fighting in the Falklands War in 1982. He documented his experiences during and after the conflict in a book, co-written with his father, John Lawrence, entitled When the Fighting Is Over: A Personal Story of the Battle for Tumbledown Mountain and Its Aftermath. This was adapted into the controversial BBC television play Tumbledown in 1988.

The Tumbledown Dick is a former public house on the site of a new McDonald's restaurant in Farnborough, Hampshire, in the United Kingdom, that operated from the 16th century until the early 21st century. The name of the pub originates as the satirical nickname given to Richard Cromwell, son of Oliver Cromwell, after his abrupt fall from power after a brief nine-month reign in 1658–59. The pub was the central focus of Farnborough before its 19th-century refocus toward North Camp and the current town centre's 20th-century development. Local folklore links the pub with various historical figures, including Cromwell, Henry VIII and Dick Turpin. The pub was closed in 2008, and the building was purchased by McDonald's in 2012.
