The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) is a state government unit in Nevada that oversees its public system of colleges and universities. It was formed in 1968 to oversee all state-supported higher education in the state. Two doctoral-granting research universities, one state college, four community colleges and one research institute comprise the system. About 105,000 students attend the degree-granting campuses.
Thomas & Mack Center is an arena located on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in Paradise, Nevada. It is home of the UNLV Runnin' Rebels basketball team of the Mountain West Conference.
The Fremont Cannon is the trophy awarded to the winner of the Battle for Nevada, an American college football rivalry game played annually by the Nevada Wolf Pack football team of the University of Nevada, Reno (Nevada) and the UNLV Rebels football team of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). The trophy was built in 1970 and is a replica of a 19th-century Howitzer cannon that accompanied American explorer and politician John C. Frémont on an expedition to the American West and Nevada in the mid 19th century. The original cannon had been abandoned, due to heavy snows, in the Sierra Nevada in 1843. The replica cannon was originally fired following a touchdown by the team in possession of the cannon, it has been inoperable since 1999. The wooden carriage is painted the school color of the team in possession, navy blue for Nevada or scarlet for UNLV. The trophy is the heaviest and most expensive in college football. Since 2012, the game is also part of the Governor's Series, the series of athletic competitions between the two schools.
Mackay Stadium is an outdoor athletic stadium in Reno, Nevada on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno. It is the university's venue for football and women's soccer for the Nevada Wolf Pack of the Mountain West Conference. It was named after the Mackay family, benefactors of the university by Clarence and John Mackay.
The UNLV Arboretum is an 80-acre (32 ha) arboretum on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in Paradise, Nevada.
The William S. Boyd School of Law is a law school accredited by the American Bar Association. It is located on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) and is the only law school in Nevada. The school is also home to the Wiener-Rogers Law Library, the Saltman Center for Conflict Resolution, the Thomas & Mack Legal Clinic, the Nevada Law Journal, and the UNLV Gaming Law Journal. It awards the Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and has a student body of approximately 350 students. It also awards dual degrees -- including the Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration (J.D./MBA), the Juris Doctor and Master of Social Work (J.D./M.S.W.), and the Juris Doctor and Doctor of Philosophy in Education (J.D./Ph.D.) -- as well as a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Gaming law and Regulation. All first-year law students are required to participate in a Community Service Program and spend substantial time providing legal information to people in the community who do not have access to lawyers. In partnership with the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada Pro Bono Project, law students prepare and present workshops at numerous locations in their community, on basic legal matters such as small claims court procedure, family law and divorce, bankruptcy, guardianship, and paternity/custody matters.
The UNLV Rebels football program is a college football team that represents the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). The team is currently a member of the Mountain West Conference, which is a Division I Bowl Subdivision conference of the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA). The program which began on September 14, 1968, is coached by former Bishop Gorman High School head coach, Tony Sanchez. The team's home games are played at Sam Boyd Stadium in Whitney, Nevada.

N.E.O.N. is the acronym for Nevada Encounters of New Music, a symposium and festival of contemporary music taking place yearly at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Directed by UNLV faculty composers Virko Baley and Jorge Villavicencio Grossmann, N.E.O.N. began in 2007. The objective of this symposium and festival is a pedagogical one: student composers from the U.S. and abroad gather in Las Vegas for three to four days of intensive activities, including masterclasses, lectures and concerts.
The Nevada Wolf Pack football program represents the University of Nevada, Reno in college football. The Wolf Pack competes in the Mountain West Conference at the Football Bowl Subdivision level of the NCAA Division I.

The school is located on the Shadow Lane Campus, located just east of University Medical Center of Southern Nevada on Charleston and Shadow Lane, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The school enrolls, on average, 80 freshmen per year.
The Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art is a museum located on the main campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), established in 1967. The museum was originally instituted as a natural history museum with a focus on the natural history and environment of Nevada and the broader Southwestern United States. In December 2011, the Barrick joined the UNLV College of Fine Arts and became the anchor of the Galleries at UNLV. The six galleries and one museum that make up the Galleries are each entities in their own right linked via a common administration. The Marjorie Barrick Museum, is a well-known venue for engaging exhibitions and events and promotes engagement with the visual arts among a broad community including UNLV students, faculty, and staff; the greater Las Vegas community; and the national and international art community.

The team played its home games in the Thomas & Mack Center, and was a member of the Pacific Coast Athletic Association (PCAA), now known as the Big West Conference; it would join the Western Athletic Conference in 1996 and become a charter member of its current conference, the Mountain West Conference, in 1999.
The 1989–90 UNLV Runnin' Rebels basketball team represented the University of Nevada Las Vegas in NCAA Division I men's competition in the 1989–90 season, and won the NCAA title under head coach Jerry Tarkanian. The team played its home games in the Thomas & Mack Center, and was a member of the Big West Conference; it would join the Western Athletic Conference in 1996 and become a charter member of its current conference, the Mountain West Conference, in 1999. As of the present, they are the last team from any of the non-major seven conferences to win the national championship.

The team is a member of the Mountain West Conference, which is part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division I. UNLV's first baseball team was fielded on February 25, 1967. The team plays its home games at Earl Wilson Stadium in Paradise, Nevada. The Rebels are coached by Stan Stolte.
University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) School of Medicine, is an academic division of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) with 60 students matriculated on July 17, 2017. The students began their education with a 6 week EMT course. The school is the first to grant the Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in Southern Nevada. The school uses facilities in the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMCSN) clinical building at the Las Vegas Medical District.
The Lee Business School is the graduate business school at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). It holds international dual accreditation in business and accounting by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The Lee Business School is the largest college at UNLV and offers nine undergraduate and five graduate programs.
