Ultra low expansion glass (ULE) is a registered trademark of Corning Incorporated. ULE has a very low coefficient of thermal expansion and contains as components silica and less than 10% titanium dioxide. Such high resistance to thermal expansion makes it very resistant to high temperature thermal shock. ULE has been made by Corning since the 1960s, but is still very important to current applications.
The Forel-Ule Scale is a method to approximately determine the color of bodies of water, used in limnology and oceanography. By means of mixing different chemical a standard color scale is produced in a series of numerically designated vials (1-21) which is compared with the color of the water body. The result is a color index for the water body which gives an indication of the transparency of the water and thus helps to classify gross biological activity. The color graduations correspond to open sea and lake water colors, as they appear to an observer ashore or on board a vessel. The method is used in conjunction with the Secchi disk submersed to half the Secchi depth.
ULE is the default scheduler for the FreeBSD operating system for the i386 and AMD64 architectures. It was introduced in FreeBSD version 5, but it was disabled by default for a time in favor of the traditional BSD scheduler until it reached maturity. The original BSD scheduler does not make full use of SMP or SMT, which is important in modern computing environments. The primary goal of the ULE project is to make better use of SMP and SMT environments. ULE should improve performance in both uniprocessor and multiprocessor environments, as well as interactive response under heavy load. The user may switch between the BSD scheduler and ULE using a kernel compile-time tunable.

As with their previous release, 2009's Aura, the band recorded as a four-piece with Tommy Heart (vocals), Helge Engelke (guitars), Ule W. Ritgen (bass) and C.C. Behrens (drums).

Islossningen i Uleå älv, Op. 30, is a composition by Jean Sibelius, an "improvisation for narrator, men's chorus and orchestra". Sibelius composed it in 1899 on a poem by Zachris Topelius, a Swedish-language Finnish poet, who had dedicated it to Tsar Alexander II of Russia, thus escaping censorship. The piece was an "explicit protest composition" against a Russia restricting the autonomy of the Grand Duchy of Finland. Sibelius wrote it for a lottery of the Savonian-Karelian Students' Association, where he conducted the first performance on 21 October 1899.
