Under a Red Sky Night is the début (and unique) solo studio album by Irish musician Martin Tourish, released in May 2014.
Martin Tourish is an accordionist, composer and producer from County Donegal, Ireland. Named 'Young Musician of the Year' in 2008 by TG4, his compositions are played by Altan, The Chieftains, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis amongst others.
Following almost a decade after Clan Ranald (2005), his previous unique collaboration effort with traditional Irish musician Luke Ward (from Cavan), Under A Red Sky Night is Martin's very first solo album. Featuring a cast of nineteen musicians and nearly 56 minutes of Martin's compositions and arrangements, it was released to highly positive reviews.
According to Martin Tourish, much of the music on Under A Red Sky Night began either as improvisations that were later shaped into compositions, or as a re-imagining of material from the traditional idiom. Each of the tunes and sets are snapshots of the spirit of a particular time and place and the people and ideas that floated within it. The tracks on this album were produced to give as much of a sense of this as was possible and Martin Tourish hope that the listener enjoy exploring each of these microcosms as much as he did.

Charles Edward Haden was an American jazz double bass player, bandleader, composer and educator whose career spanned more than 50 years. Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh is an Irish fiddler and the lead vocalist for the Irish folk music band Altan, which she co-founded with her husband Frankie Kennedy in 1987. She was part of the Irish supergroup T with the Maggies who performed in January 2009 at Temple Bar TradFest in Dublin their first ever two concerts under that name and who released in October 2010 their debut album. After nearly 22 years with Altan, on 28 December 2008 Ní Mhaonaigh premiered in Gweedore her debut solo album Imeall which was later released worldwide in February 2009. After 29 years with Altan, in October 2016 Ní Mhaonaigh released her alternate band Na Mooneys' debut album Na Mooneys.

Seán Mac Erlaine is an Irish musician and composer specialising in woodwinds and electronics. He studied jazz performance in Newpark Music Centre under Ronan Guilfoyle where he also taught for a number of years before completing his formal education at Dublin Institute of Technology where he was awarded a Masters in Jazz Performance as well as a PhD focusing on solo woodwind performance with live electronics. He plays alto saxophone, clarinet and bass clarinet which he often processes through software created with Max/MSP. He has performed with leading musicians including Jan Bang, Bill Frisell, David Toop, Ernst Reijseger, The Smith Quartet, Hayden Chisholm, Eivind Aarset, Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh, Ronan Guilfoyle, Iarla O'Lionaird, Valgeir Sigurðsson, Damo Suzuki and The Gloaming. Mac Erlaine has released two solo albums on Irish record label Ergodos. The Irish Times describes Mac Erlaine as "consistently one of the most interesting and adventurous musicians of his generation."
