The Sri Lanka men's national cricket team, nicknamed The Lions, represents Sri Lanka in men's international cricket. It is a full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test, One-Day International (ODI) and T20 International (T20I) status. The team first played international cricket in 1926–27 and became an associate member of the ICC in 1965. They were awarded the Test status in 1981, which made Sri Lanka the eighth Test cricket-playing nation. The team is administered by Sri Lanka Cricket.

The team was formerly organized by the United States of America Cricket Association (USACA), which became an associate member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 1965. In June 2017, the USACA was expelled by the ICC due to governance and financing issues, with the U.S. team being temporarily overseen by ICC Americas until a new sanctioning body was established. In January 2019, associate membership was officially granted to USA Cricket.

The stadium has an official capacity of 26,950 spectators. The stadium was designed by Ar. Arun Loomba and Associates, and constructed by R.S. Construction Company based in Chandigarh. Inderjit Singh Bindra stadium is home of Punjab cricket team and Punjab Kings. The stadium is named after former BCCI president & former PCA president Inderjit Singh Bindra.

During the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, Airee scored the fastest fifty in T20Is, off just 10 balls, against Mongolia. In April 2024, he became the only third player in T20Is to hit six consecutive sixes in an over, doing it against Qatar in the ACC Premier Cup. He is also dubbed as “The Tiger” for his aggressive batting skills.

It was co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States from 1 to 29 June 2024; the tournament being hosted by the West Indies for the second time, while this was also the first major ICC tournament to feature matches played in the United States.

Canada qualified for their maiden T20 World Cup in 2024, after winning the Americas regional qualifier. The team failed to make it past the group stage but managed to secure one victory against the full member team, Ireland.
