The District Colleges of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila was established in 2001 through the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Manila Mayor, the Department of Education Secretary, the PLM President, and the Superintendent of the Division of City Schools-Manila. [1] [2]
The students and facilities of the District Colleges are housed in three existing public schools houses the students and facilities of the PLM District Colleges. [1] These schools are Antonio Villegas Technical School in Tondo (District I), Ramon Avanceña High School in Quiapo (District III). [3]
In about the same period, another MOA was signed with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, providing partnership with the City government through the PLM education system. [4]
On May 31, 2002, the Department of Social Welfare and Development of Manila, conducted the Integrated Early Childhood Care and Development (IECCD). It was the first academic course conducted in the District Colleges through the auspices of the United Nations Children's Fund. [5]

Don Bosco Technical College also referred to by its acronym DBTC or Don Bosco Mandaluyong is a private Catholic basic and higher education institution run by the Salesians of the Society of Saint John Bosco in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Established in 1953 by the Salesians, it is the first Don Bosco Educational Center in Metro Manila. Don Bosco Mandaluyong offers co-educational primary (elementary) and secondary education, co-educational senior high school and college, night school, and vocational training for out-of-school youth.

The Open University of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) or University of the City of Manila headquartered at the Gusaling Don Pepe Atienza at Intramuros, Manila, has operated a continuing education program for working adults and professionals in its partner institutions and agencies in and out of the country. The Emeritus College is one of the eight Graduate schools of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. It is headed by Prof. Esperanza Bautista as Dean, and manned by educators and professionals who are leaders in their respective fields

The Graduate School of Law of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila is one of the eight graduate schools of the university. It was launched on July 7, 2004 at the Manila Hotel, with former Undersecretary of the Department of Justice, Atty. Ernesto L. Pineda, as its first dean. Currently, former Supreme Court's Second Division Chairman Justice Angelina G. Sandoval-Gutierrez sits as the dean of the Graduate School of Law.

The Universidad de Manila (UdM) is a city government funded, public local university in Manila, Philippines. Its Main Campus is located at the grounds of Mehan Gardens, near the Central Terminal Station of LRTA Line 1. It has an annex campus in Carriedo Street. It formerly maintained a campus at the 15-storey old PNB Building in Escolta Street but it was razed by a fire in 2015 and was finally demolished in 2016. The Division of City Schools-Manila has its headquarters at the main campus of UDM.

Established in 1982, the PLM Rondalla is the official and premiere musical ensemble of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. It is one of the groups sponsored and run by the PLM President’s Committee on Culture and the Arts. Benjamin G. Tayabas is a US-trained Filipino educator and administrator. He is the longest-serving university president of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila. He succeeded Dr. Jose D. Villanueva in 1989, Dr. Virsely M. dela Cruz in 2000, and Atty. Jose M. Roy III in 2006. His initial term as PLM president was broken when he briefly served as Undersecretary of the Department of Education.
