The Uno Line (宇野線, Uno-sen) is a Japanese railway line which connects Okayama Station in Okayama to Uno Station in Tamano, both in Okayama Prefecture. It is owned and run by the West Japan Railway Company (JR West). It is also referred to as the Uno-Port Line (宇野みなと線, Uno-minato-sen). Part of the line, between Okayama Station and Chayamachi Station, is known as the Seto-Ōhashi Line.

History

The entire line opened on 12 June 1910, [2] and until the opening of the Seto Ohashi Bridge in 1988, was the main railway connection to Shikoku (via the Takamatsu ferry). With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, the line came under the control of JR West. [2]

From the start of the 26 March 2016 timetable revision, the line was branded the Uno Port Line (宇野みなと線, Uno-minato-sen). [3]

<i>Marine Liner</i> Japanese rapid train service

The Marine Liner is a rapid train service in Japan operated by West Japan Railway Company and Shikoku Railway Company since April 1988. The Marine Liner links Okayama, the capital city of Okayama Prefecture and a major station on the Sanyō Shinkansen, with Takamatsu, the capital city of Kagawa Prefecture on the island of Shikoku, via the Great Seto Bridge. Operating at a top speed of 130 km/h, the journey takes approximately 52–63 minutes.

The Hakubi Line is a railway line operated by West Japan Railway Company in the mountainous area of the Chūgoku region of Japan. It begins at the south end of Okayama Prefecture at Kurashiki Station in Kurashiki, passing through Niimi Station on the west side of Niimi, and terminating at Hōki-Daisen Station in Yonago, Tottori Prefecture, linking Okayama Prefecture and Yonago across the Chūgoku Mountains. The Ōito Line is a railway line in Japan which connects Matsumoto Station in Nagano Prefecture with Itoigawa Station in Niigata Prefecture. There are two operators on the line: East Japan Railway Company and West Japan Railway Company. Minami-Otari is the boundary for the two companies. The section of the line operated by JR East, between Minami-Otari and Matsumoto, is electrified and trains are fairly regular along this section. The JR West section from Minami-Otari to Itoigawa, however, is not electrified and sees less use. Trains operate less frequently along this section.
