Uplift Education is a public charter school network, which was founded as the North Hills Preparatory School in Irving, Texas, in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. Uplift was founded in 1996 by Rosemary Perlmeter, as one of the state of Texas' first charter schools. In 2005, Uplift Education founded its first urban campus, creating Uplift Atlas Preparatory in Old East Dallas. As of 2019, Uplift Education serves over 18,000 students in 20 schools in Dallas and Tarrant Counties. [7] Uplift Education is a system of college preparatory schools that has an extended school day, and all Uplift schools are International Baccalaureate authorized, or are on track for IB authorization. As of the 2016 school year 100% of graduates were accepted into college for the 8th year in a row.

Its county seat is Fort Worth. Tarrant County, one of 26 counties created out of the Peters Colony, was established in 1849 and organized the next year. It was named in honor of General Edward H. Tarrant of the Republic of Texas militia.

Remaining the 15th-most populous city in Texas, the 2020 census reported a population of 196,100.

It is the economic and cultural hub of North Texas. Residents of the area also refer to it as DFW, or the Metroplex. The Dallas–Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan statistical area's population was 7,637,387 according to the U.S. Census Bureau's 2020 census, making it the most populous metropolitan area in both Texas and the Southern United States, the fourth-largest in the U.S., and the tenth-largest in the Americas. Kelly Gene Hancock is an American businessman and Republican State Senator for District 9, which encompasses portions of Tarrant and Dallas counties, including all or part of the following communities in Tarrant County: Arlington, Bedford, Colleyville, Euless, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Grapevine, Haltom City, Hurst, Keller, North Richland Hills, Richland Hills, Saginaw, Southlake, Trophy Club, Watauga and Westlake. In Dallas County, Senate District 9 includes portions of Dallas, Grand Prairie, and Irving. Hancock was elected to the Texas Senate in November 2012, having previously served three terms in the Texas House of Representatives.
