The Victorian Women's Premier League is the highest women's football state league of Victoria in Australia. In 2016, the league was rebranded as the Women's National Premier League Victoria with Calder United being crowned both the Champions and Premiers. [1]

WNPL Years

The initial members of the WNPL were Alamein, Bayside United, Bulleen Lions, Box Hill United, Calder United, Heidelberg United, Geelong Galaxy United, Senior NTC and Southern United. [1] In the following season, South Melbourne was admitted to the league who went on to win the inaugural Finals Series, 5-4 on penalties against Geelong Galaxy United. [2] South Melbourne again made the Grand Final the following season losing 3-1 to Bulleen Lions. [3] [4] Despite not being crowned Champions, South Melbourne were successful in the regular season who were crowned Premiers of the 2018 season. [5] This was a feat achieved by the club as well in their inital season in the renewed league. [6]

FC Bulleen Lions

FC Bulleen Lions is an Australian semi-professional football club based in Bulleen, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. Founded in 1974, the club currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Victoria 2.

Box Hill United SC

Box Hill United Soccer Club is an Australian semi-professional soccer club based in the Melbourne suburb of Box Hill. The club currently competes in the National Premier Leagues Victoria 2. United is based at Wembley Park in Box Hill South.

Heidelberg United FC

Heidelberg United Football Club is an association football club based in the northern Melbourne suburb of Heidelberg, Victoria, Australia. The team currently competes in the National Premier League Victoria. Heidelberg are one of six state league teams to have eliminated an A-League team in the FFA Cup, along with Blacktown City FC, Redlands United FC, Green Gully SC, APIA Leichhardt Tigers FC and Adelaide City FC.

Preston Lions FC
