WJTI (1460 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to West Allis, Wisconsin, and serving the Greater Milwaukee radio market. It airs a smooth jazz radio format and is owned by El Sol Broadcasting, LLC. [1]
By day, WJTI is powered at 1,000 watts. But to protect other stations on 1460 AM from interference, it reduces power at night to 240 watts. Programming is also heard on FM translator W273DQ at 102.5 MHz.
The station signed on the air on June 4, 1950. The call sign was WRAC, originally in Racine. The owner of the station purchased another Racine station, WRJN-FM in 1969, changing it to WRAC-FM. A year later, the FM station flipped to a rock-leaning top 40 format as WRKR, and in 1975, WRAC adopted that call sign, simulcasting their FM sister station. [2]
It was also for a brief time WWEG ("The Country Egg") before returning to WRKR and again simulcasting the FM signal. Later, there was a short lived Spanish format.
The station switched calls to WBZN on October 14, 1987, simulcasting its sister station's new smooth jazz format. Both stations flipped to urban contemporary in June 1991, becoming WKKV.
The AM station broke away from the simulcast in November 1993, flipping to a Spanish-language format as WBJX. The year 2007 brought the current call sign, WJTI, and a new city of license, the Milwaukee suburb of West Allis. [3]
On December 17, 2021, WJTI began stunting with Christmas music and launched a simulcast on new translator W273BQ (102.5 FM). The previous Regional Mexican format continues through former translator 97.9 W250BN, which is now fed via the HD3 sub-channel of WMYX-FM. On December 26, 2021, WJTI and W273BQ flipped to a smooth jazz format as "102.5 FM". [4]

The sale of translator station W250BN to El Sol was completed in May 2014, with El Sol beginning to simulcast WJTI upon it over that month's Memorial Day weekend. Previously the station had independently been a translator of Wisconsin Public Radio's Ideas Network via WHAD (90.7) under the ownership of "Radio Power, Inc." , which moved the translator over the years up the Rock Freeway corridor from Beloit in an attempt to move it to Milwaukee in order to likely present a ready-made signal for a commercial operation to broadcast an HD Radio subchannel or AM signal over. The moves were questioned by the Federal Communications Commission, with a denial of a construction permit to the MPTV Tower in the Shorewood tower farm and an inquiry to Radio Power on their motives before the purchase by El Sol. [5] [6] Radio Power eventually was approved to transmit from the Hilton Milwaukee City Center tower in the downtown area, which is closer to the core Latino-American neighborhoods on Milwaukee's south side which WJTI serves than the Shorewood site. On December 17. 2021, WJTI signed on translator station 102.5 W273DQ, which serves the Milwaukee market.
WAMJ is a commercial radio station licensed to Roswell, Georgia, and serving Metro Atlanta. It airs an urban adult contemporary radio format, simulcasting with sister station 97.5 WUMJ in Fayetteville. The station is currently owned by Radio One, via licensee Radio One Licenses, LLC. The studios and offices are located inside the Centennial Tower building in downtown Atlanta.
WKKV-FM, also known as V-100.7, is an urban contemporary radio station owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. serving the Milwaukee area. The station broadcasts with an ERP of 50 kW and is licensed to Racine, Wisconsin. Its studios are located in the Milwaukee suburb of Greenfield.
WMYX-FM is a commercial radio station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Calling itself "99-1 The Mix," it was the first station in the U.S. to use the "Mix" moniker. WMYX-FM has been airing roughly the same hot adult contemporary radio format since late 1981. The station is owned by Audacy, Inc., along with sister stations WXSS-FM and WSSP. WMYX's studios and transmitter are co-located in Hales Corners. The playlist consists of current hits and recent hits from the 2000s and 2010s. WMYX is responsible for the activation of the Milwaukee metropolitan area Emergency Alert System.
WKTI – branded 94.5 ESPN Milwaukee – is a commercial sports radio station licensed to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, serving the Milwaukee metropolitan area. Owned by Good Karma Brands, WKTI is an affiliate for ESPN Radio. WKTI is known as ESPN Milwaukee; also jointly identified as ESPN Wisconsin alongside Madison-based sister station WTLX, which simulcasts much of WKTI's local programming. WKTI also serves as the flagship station for the Marquette Golden Eagles; and the radio home of Mark Chmura, Mark Tauscher, Tony Smith and Steve True. WKTI shares its transmitter and tower facility with WTMJ-TV from its former studio located off of Capitol Drive in Milwaukee, an Art Deco facility known as "Radio City", in tribute to the New York complex of the same name. WTMJ radio, WKTI and WGKB moved to a new studio within the Third Street Market Hall in downtown Milwaukee at the end of 2022.

WDDW is also known as "La Gran D", and plays traditional regional/Mexican music, with a second station, W229CQ (93.7), translated via WDDW's HD Radio HD2 subchannel and carrying older regional/traditional music and some current tracks under the branding "La Z 93.7".
