The WTA Bratislava was a women's tennis tournament held in Bratislava, Slovakia, from 1999 until 2002. The tournament was a Tier IVa and V event on the WTA Tour. It was held in October and played on indoor hard courts at the Incheba expo centre. Amélie Mauresmo won her first career title in the inaugural event, defeating another future world No. 1, Kim Clijsters.

For this season, a new event was added: the State Farm Classic in Scottsdale, Arizona, U.S. It also saw the return of the China Open which was moved to Shanghai, after last being held in Beijing in 1996.

The Austrian Open was a WTA Tour affiliated women's clay court tennis tournament founded in 1896 as the Championships of Austria a combined men's and women's tournament. Following World War II it was known as the Austrian International Championships up to the open era.

The WTA Tier IV tournaments were Women's Tennis Association fourth-level tournaments held from 1990 until the end of the 2008 season. The line-up of events varied over the years, with tournaments being promoted, demoted or cancelled. Some of the tournaments became Tier V events between 1990 and 1992, and later from 2001 to 2005, before being integrated back into Tier IV.

It was the inaugural edition of the tournament and was held from 18 October until 24 October 1999. First-seeded Amélie Mauresmo won the singles title and earned $16,000 first-prize money.

The 2002 VUB Open was a women's tennis tournament played on indoor hard courts at the Sibamac Arena in Bratislava, Slovakia that was part of the Tier V category of the 2002 WTA Tour. It was the fourth and final edition of the tournament and was held from 14 October until 20 October 2002. Unseeded Maja Matevžič won the singles title and earned $16,000 first-prize money.

The WTA Indian Open is a tournament for professional female tennis players, held regularly since 2003 in various Indian cities. It was a WTA Tour event played on outdoor hardcourts. In 2008, it was classified as a Tier II event with the prize money of $600,000 – this made it the biggest women's tennis tournament in South and Southeast Asia that year. Following the restructuring of the WTA Tour in 2009, there were no WTA tournaments in India until 2022 except some WTA Challengers.
