The Washington County Sheriffs Office, sometimes referred to as "WCSO", is the primary law enforcement organization serving Washington County, Tennessee, in the United States. The Department has a staff of deputies, corrections officers, and support personnel.

Washington County, Tennessee County in the United States

Washington County is a county located in the U.S. state of Tennessee. As of the 2010 census, the population was 122,979. Its county seat is Jonesborough. The county's largest city and a regional educational, medical and commercial center is Johnson City. Washington County is Tennessee's oldest county, having been established in 1777 when the state was still part of North Carolina.

Administration

The Administration Division is responsible for Records, Training, Warrants, and the department SRO program with area schools.

Operations

The Operations Division includes Patrol and K-9 units, Criminal Investigations, Communications, and Accreditation for the department.

Corrections

The Corrections Division handles all jail and prisoner matters, which include prisoner transportation, medical staff, and protection of all prisoners and other persons in the Washington County Detention Center.

Deputy Sheriff Robert Tilman "Felix" Thomason
September 10, 1970
Deputy Sheriff Felix Thomason suffered a fatal heart attack after he and another deputy arrested two disorderly men for being drunk in public at a store on Highway 81.

Both men resisted arrest and assaulted the deputies before being subdued. Deputy Thomason collapsed as they arrived at the county jail in Jonesborough. He was transported to Memorial Hospital where he passed away.

The two prisoners were charged with drunk in public, resisting arrest, and assault.

Deputy Thomason was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and had served with the Washington County Sheriff's Office for several years. He was survived by his wife, three sons, three daughters, brother, and sister.

Prince William County Sheriffs Office

The Prince William County, Virginia Sheriff's Office was established in 1731 to provide law enforcement and jailers for the County. The Department has a staff of 260 deputies, corrections officers, and support personnel. The department also staffs a 24-7 9-1-1 dispatch center that provides dispatching for the sheriff's office, Bluff City Police Department, Sullivan County Fire Departments, and Sullivan County EMS. The dispatch center receives approximately 100,000 calls each year.
