Wilcannia Airport (IATA: WIO, ICAO: YWCA) is an airport located near the town of Wilcannia, New South Wales, Australia. The airport is 9 kilometers (6 miles) from the center of Wilcannia, and is the sole airport serving it. [1] The airport does not service scheduled commercial traffic.

The Division of Barrier was an Australian electoral division in the state of New South Wales. The division was proclaimed in 1900, and was one of the original 65 divisions to be contested at the first federal election. It was named for the Barrier Ranges near the city of Broken Hill in western New South Wales. In 1901, it included Broken Hill, Wilcannia, White Cliffs and Tibooburra and the surrounding pastoral areas. In 1906, it gained Menindee, Wentworth from Riverina and in 1913, it gained Balranald and Deniliquin from Riverina. The Roman Catholic Diocese of Wilcannia-Forbes is a suffragan Latin Rite diocese of the Archdiocese of Sydney, established in 1887, initially as the Diocese of Wilcannia, and then changed to the current name in 1917. At this time, six parochial districts of Bathurst Diocese, including those of Parkes and Forbes, were added to its western neighbour. The diocese covers the Far West region of New South Wales in Australia. The Bishop's office is in Forbes but his seat is in Sacred Heart Cathedral, Broken Hill.

The Wilcannia Mob or Barkandji Boys were a hip-hop musical group of five Indigenous Australians from Wilcannia, New South Wales. The group formed in 2001, aged from nine to fourteen, with Buddy Blair, Keith Dutton, Wally Ebsworth, Colin "Colroy" Johnson and Lendal King. Their debut single, "Down River", was issued in 2002 and received high rotation on national youth radio, Triple J – it was listed at No. 51 on their Hottest 100 for that year. The Wilcannia Athenaeum is a heritage listed, rusticated sandstone building in the town of Wilcannia, New South Wales. Built in 1883 and located at 37 Reid St, the Athenaeum was established to be an institution for community education, a school of arts and included a public library. It has served a number of functions including as a social centre, a library, a newspaper office, a municipal council meeting place, the Wilcannia Telecentre and is now a museum.

St Ignatius Roman Catholic Church and Convent is a heritage-listed church and convent at 3-7 Meek Street, Bourke, Bourke Shire, New South Wales, Australia. The property is owned by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Wilcannia-Forbes, and used by the Parish of Bourke. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

Knox and Downs was a store in located at 44 Reid St on the corner of Myers St in Wilcannia, New South Wales in far western New South Wales. In 2002, the heritage listed building was extensively damaged by fire. In 2016 it was announced that the building would be repurposed as a cultural centre. A$3.5 million had been committed by the New South Wales government to construct the Baaka Cultural Centre, which will be a home to the largest collection of Barkindji history, art and cultural pieces found in Australia. Engineers assessed the remains of the building in 2016 and found that most of the external walls, including the verandah, of the existing building could be restored.
