The Tampa Bay Bandits were a professional American football team in the United States Football League (USFL) which was based in Tampa, Florida. The Bandits were a charter member of the USFL and was the only franchise to have the same principal owner, head coach, and home field during the league's three seasons of play (1983–1985). The Bandits were one of the most successful teams in the short-lived spring football league both on the field and at the ticket booth. Spurrier's "Bandit Ball" offense led them to three winning seasons and two playoff appearances, and their exciting brand of play combined with innovative local marketing helped the Bandits lead the league in attendance. However, the franchise folded along with the rest of the USFL when the league suspended play after the 1985 season.
The Memphis Showboats were an American football franchise in the United States Football League. They entered the league in its expansion in 1984 and made the 1985 playoffs, losing in the semifinal round to the Oakland Invaders. Perhaps the most prominent players on the Showboats' roster during their two seasons of existence were future Pro Football Hall of Fame member Reggie White and future professional wrestler "The Total Package" Lex Luger.

He was drafted by the New York Jets in the fifth round of the 1979 NFL Draft. He played college football at the University of Kentucky and attended North Hardin High School in Radcliff, Kentucky. Kirchbaum was also a member of the Tampa Bay Bandits and Denver Dynamite. He was a member of the Denver Dynamite team that won ArenaBowl I.
Larry Brodsky is a former American football wide receiver in the United States Football League (USFL) for the New Jersey Generals and Tampa Bay Bandits. He played college football at the University of Miami.
John Franklin III is a German-born American football wide receiver for the Memphis Showboats of the United States Football League (USFL). He played college football for Florida State, Auburn and Florida Atlantic. He also played junior college football for East Mississippi, where he was featured prominently in the first season of Last Chance U. He was signed by the Chicago Bears as an undrafted free agent in 2018. He is the son of two Trinidadian parents, John Franklin Jr. and Kealer Franklin.

James Edward Ramey Jr. is an American former gridiron football defensive end who played eight seasons in the National Football League (NFL), Canadian Football League (CFL), and United States Football League (USFL) for the St. Louis Cardinals, Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Tampa Bay Bandits, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played college football at Kentucky and was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1979 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns.
Phillip G. Darns is a former American football defensive end who played one season in the National Football League (NFL) for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played college football at Mississippi Valley State and was signed by the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent in 1982. Darns also spent time with the Detroit Lions in the NFL and the New Jersey Generals in the United States Football League (USFL).
