The World Chessboxing Association (WCBA) is the governing body of chess boxing [ citation needed ] founded in 2013 and has its headquarters in London, England. Its current president is Tim Woolgar who was the chess boxing UK champion at heavyweight.

History

The World Chessboxing Association split from World Chess Boxing Organization (WCBO) and it was established in 2013 by Tim Woolgar to accelerate developing chess boxing industry. The champions of WCBO are also sanctioned as the champions by WCBA. [1]

A wide array of sports are played in Armenia. Popular sports in Armenia include football, basketball, volleyball, and ice hockey. Competitively, Armenia has been very successful at chess, weightlifting, and wrestling at the international level. Armenia is also an active member of the international sports community, with full membership in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), Federation of International Bandy (FIB), International School Sport Federation, International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), among others. It also hosts the Pan-Armenian Games.

Tim Woolgar is a British chess boxer and event organiser who established Great Britain Chess Boxing Organisation and the London Chessboxing Club the first United Kingdom chessboxing institution. He is a former holder of the title, British Heavyweight Chess Boxing Champion. He also promotes chess boxing events.

The Uganda Chess Federation (UCF) is the governing body of chess competition in Uganda and a member of FIDE, the international chess federation. It administers the official national chess rating system which awards both numeric ratings and titles of distinction. The UCF was founded in 1972, became affiliated with the National Council of Sports in 1973, and in 1978 was affiliated with FIDE, the first Federation in East Africa to achieve this.

Nikolay Sergeevich Sazhin is a former world champion of chess boxing. Sazhin has an Elo rating of 1911. Sazhin's overall record was at that point 49–13–0. His alias is "The Siberian Express" or "The Chairman".

Aman Hambleton is a Canadian chess grandmaster and Twitch/Kick streamer. He is a member of the Chessbrahs, along with other grandmasters such as Eric Hansen (founder), Robin van Kampen, and Yasser Seirawan.

The Mogul Chessboxing Championship is a hybrid sporting event where YouTube, Twitch and other Livestreaming personalities compete in alternating rounds of boxing and chess in accordance with the rules of chess boxing. Mogul Chessboxing Championship gets its name from its founder Ludwig Ahgren, whose company operates under the name Mogul Moves. The event premiered on December 11, 2022. at the Galen Center in Los Angeles.
