Wushu at the Universiade has only been contested once in 2017 as an optional sport. In 2021, it will return with the same status.

Tennis has been a part of the Summer Universiade program since the games' first edition in 1959, with the exception of the 1975 Summer Universiade and again in 1989. The first change at the program was at the 1987 edition, when FISU decided awards two bronze medals for the losers of the semifinals, extinguishing the fourth place. The second change was in 2009, when the team competitions were included. Currently, seven events are played at Universiade. Individual, double and team contests for men and women, as well as mixed doubles.

The 2019 Winter Universiade, the XXIX Universiade, was a multi-sport event for student and youth athletes which took place from 2 to 12 March 2019 in the Russian city of Krasnoyarsk. The 2019 Winter Universiade was the third Universiade hosted in Russia and second as an independent country. The first Universiade, when Russia was a Soviet Republic, was hosted by Moscow in 1973, whereas Kazan, capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, hosted the 2013 Summer Universiade. It is the first Winter Universiade hosted by Russia, and the second time that the event was held in a former USSR republic.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Gymnastics at the Summer Universiade</span>

Gymnastics is a sport at the Universiade that was first contested in 1961. The first time artistic gymnastics was played was in that year, turning in a compulsory event in 1963 and since then it has been out of the program twice in 1975 and 1989. In 1973, for the first time a competition in apparatus was added to the program and would become mandatory in 1979. In 1991, rhythmic gymnastics was one of the two optional sports chosen by the organizers and was present with the same status in 1995 in 1997, becoming a compulsory sport in 2001. At the 2011 edition, aerobic gymnastics was also part of the program.

The 2021 Winter Universiade, officially the XXX Winter Universiade, and commonly known as Lucerne 2021, was a multi-sport event for student and youth athletes that was scheduled to take place from 11 to 21 December 2021 in Lucerne, Switzerland, with preliminary competition in some events beginning 6 December 2021. The 2021 Summer World University Games, the XXXI Summer World University Games, commonly known as Chengdu 2021, are an ongoing multi-sport event sanctioned by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), scheduled to be held from 28 July to 8 August 2023 primarily in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. It will be the fourth edition of the Games to be hosted by China, and the first edition to be referred to as the "Summer World University Games" rather than "Summer Universiade". The games marked the 15th anniversary of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Rowing at the Summer Universiade</span>

Rowing is an Universiade optional sport since the 1987 in Zagreb, Yugoslavia. After this, rowing was an optional sport at the 1989, 1993, 2013 and 2015 editions. The sport will return on a same status, at the 2021 Summer Universiade, to be held in Chengdu, People's Republic of China and was also chosen with same status to the subsequent editions scheduled for 2025 Summer Universiade, to be held in Duisburg, Germany and 2027 Summer Universiade, to be held in Chungcheong Province, South Korea.

Artistic gymnastics was contested at the 2019 Summer Universiade from July 3 to 7, and rhythmic gymnastics was contested from July 11 to 13. Both events were held at the PalaVesuvio in Naples, Italy.

The 2025 FISU Winter World University Games, known also as the XXXII Winter World University Games, or the 32nd Winter Universiade, and commonly known as Turin 2025 or Torino 2025, is a multi-sport event scheduled from 13 to 23 January 2025 in Turin, Italy. The Piedmontese capital was confirmed as the host city for the games on 15 May 2021. This will be the 12th time in the history that the event will be held in Italy after being held for the seventh time after the most recent 2019 Summer Universiade held in Naples.
