Mount Yari is one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains. The 3,180-metre-high (10,433 ft) peak lies in the southern part of the Hida Mountains of Japan, on the border of Ōmachi and Matsumoto in Nagano Prefecture and Takayama in Gifu Prefecture. The priest Banryū (1786–1840) founded a temple there.

Abbas Yari is an iranian journalist and film critic. He was born in Arak in 1951. He graduated as a cameraman at the Superior School of Cinema in 1975. Abbas Yari started his professional career as a journalist, and worked until 1981 for the newspapers Sobh e Emrouz, Tehran Mosavvar and Kayhan. In 1968, while still a student, he presided the cultural foundation for youth in his hometown, Arak, being responsible of organizing journalistic, poetry, theater and lectures related events. In the early nineteen seventies, he is interested in theater and writes and directs several plays. Shortly after, he turns his interest to cinema, being in charge for the cinema section of the weekly Ettela'at Haftegi in 1976-1977, and chief editor for the magazine Setareh cinema between 1973 and 1977.

Alhaji Abdul'aziz Abubakar Yari is a Nigerian politician who was elected Governor of Zamfara State, Nigeria in the 26 April 2011 national elections, running on the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) platform following the merger of the ANPP and several other opposition parties into the now-governing All Progressives Congress, Mr. Yari became a member of the All Progressives Congress. Yari's popularity had waned, particularly after 2016, as Zamfara has continued to suffer from increasing bouts of violence. Yari was unable to stem or control the violence that has forced many residents into neighboring states, and in an unusual twist, he abruptly resigned his position as the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the State.
