Yinmabin (Burmese : ယင်းမာပင်မြို့) is a town and seat of the Yinmabin Township in the Sagaing Division in central Myanmar some 100 kilometres (62 mi) west of Mandalay. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]

Myinmu is a river town in the south-east of the Sagaing Division in Burma. The town has a rich history linked to World War II during the Burma Campaign against the Japanese, in 1944. It was also under the control of the Portuguese Missionaries in the 19th century. One of the first agricultural cooperatives was established here in 1905.

Ashin Vāyamānanda, commonly known as Shwesannwe Sayadaw, is a Burmese Theravada Buddhist monk. He was conferred the title of Dhamma Kathika Bahujanahitadhara, one of the highest religious titles, by the government of Myanmar. Sayadaw was a religious representative in the Buddhist cooperation between Myanmar and China. In 2013, he built the charitable Shwesannwe clinics in Sintai to offer free primary medical health care for the poor. He later expanded into an eye hospital in 2018.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">People's Defence Force (Myanmar)</span> Armed wing of the National Unity Government of Myanmar

The People's Defence Force of Myanmar is the armed wing of the National Unity Government (NUG). The armed wing was formed by the NUG from youths and pro-democracy activists on 5 May 2021 in response to the coup d'état that occurred on 1 February 2021 that put the military junta and their armed wing the Tatmadaw in power. Despite its support from the people of Myanmar, the military junta designated it as a terrorist organisation on 8 May 2021. In October 2021, NUG's Ministry of Defence announced that it had formed a central committee to coordinate military operations across the country.

Myanmar's long-running insurgencies escalated significantly in response to the 2021 military coup d'etat and the subsequent violent crackdown on anti-coup protests. By 2022, the insurgency had further escalated into a civil war, with the opposition largely united under the National Unity Government. The ACLED estimated that as of 29 July 2022, around 23,521 people in total had been killed in the violence following the 2021 coup.

The Myanmar Royal Dragon Army, also known as Myanmar's Royal Dragon Army, is an armed resistance organisation based in Pale Township, Sagaing Region. It was founded on 1 January 2022 by its leader, Bo Nagar, and is under the command of the National Unity Government.
