Yoast United is a Dutch basketball club based in Bemmel, Gelderland. Established in 2020, the team plays in the BNXT League, the highest level of basketball in the Netherlands. Home games are played at De Kooi, which has a capacity of 650 people.
The organization was founded in May 2020 under the temporary name of Basketball Community Gelderland with the aim of bringing back professional basketball to the province of Gelderland. Since the folding of Matrixx Magixx in 2014, the province had been without a club in the first-tier Dutch Basketball League (DBL).
On 5 August, the club announced it was taking the step to the DBL and had acquired a provisional license for the 2020–21 season. [1] On 9 August, the club announced Matthew Otten as its first head coach. [2] On 13 August, the club signed its first player in American Kaleb Warner. [3] Yoast SEO signed a three-year contract to become main sponsor of the team, which was named Yoast United. [4] On 4 October, Yoast United won its first-ever DBL game away against BAL Weert, 91–59. [5]
United had an incredible 2021 Dutch Cup campaign in its debut season. It defeated favored Donar and Landstede Hammers in the quarter- and semifinals. Point guard Austin Luke, also assists leader of the DBL, led the team with 52 points in the semifinal that was won after overtime. [6] In the final, Yoast lost to eight-seeded BAL. [7]
Starting from the 2021–22 season, United plays in the BNXT League, in which the national leagues of Belgium and the Netherlands are combined. Head coach Otten signed with Donar Groningen, and Paul Vervaeck signed a 2-year contract to become his successor. [8]
Yoast United plays its games at Sportcentrum De Kooi, which had been used by amateur club Batouwe Basketball before as well. [9] With a capacity of 650 people, it is the smallest arena in the BNXT League.

Donar, also known as Donar Groningen, is a professional basketball club based in Groningen, Netherlands. The club competes in the BNXT League and its home arena is MartiniPlaza, which has a seating capacity of 4,350 people.
The Dutch Basketball League (DBL), formerly the Eredivisie, was the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands, run by the Federatie Eredivisie Basketball (FEB). Since 2021, the league has been replaced by the Belgian-Dutch BNXT League.
Landstede Hammers is a Dutch basketball club based in Zwolle. The club plays in the BNXT League, the Dutch top tier division. The club was founded as Cees Lubbers The Hammers in 1995. In 1999, the club’s name was changed into Landstede Hammers. In 2001, the club received its current name Landstede Basketbal as the team became part of the same-named educational institution in Zwolle. The home games of the club are played in the Landstede Sportcentrum.
Aris Leeuwarden is a Dutch professional basketball club based in Leeuwarden. The club competes in the BNXT League, and has competed at the highest national level since 2004. The Basketball Cup, for sponsorship reasons the TOTO Basketball Cup and formerly the NBB Cup, is an annual cup competition for Dutch basketball teams organised by the Basketball Nederland. Every team in the Netherlands can participate by signing up for the preliminary rounds. Professional basketball teams from the Dutch Basketball League (DBL) enter the tournament in the fourth round. From 1977 until 1990 professional teams were not allowed to participate in the competition.

Matthew Otten is an American retired basketball player and current coach. He last held the position of head coach of Donar. Otten holds a Dutch passport as well and played the shooting guard position during his career.

Shane Hammink is a Dutch former professional basketball player. He played college basketball in the United States for Louisiana State University (LSU) and Valparaiso University. Hammink went on to play in Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands. He won the Dutch national championship in 2022.

The 2020–21 Donar season was the 49th season in the existence of the club. The club will play in the Dutch Basketball League (DBL) and Basketball Cup. It was the first season under head coach Ivan Rudež who was fired in April 2021 after disappointing results. He was replaced by Pete Miller. The season ended in more disappointment for Donar, as the team was eliminated early in the 2021 DBL Cup by Yoast United, and later in the playoffs semifinals by Heroes Den Bosch. This season was the first time since 2013 that Donar did not play in the DBL Finals.

Home games are played in the Topsportcentrum Almere, which has a capacity of 3,000 people. A year later, the team left the league due to financial difficulties and filed for bankruptcy a few months later.

Led by head coach Matthew Otten, the team immediately reached the Final of the 2021 DBL Cup, in which the team lost to BAL Weert. In the playoffs, Yoast was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Heroes Den Bosch.
The 2020–21 DBL Cup was the 53rd edition of the Netherlands' national basketball cup tournament. This season the format was changed due to the compressed playing schedule caused by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Only teams from the Dutch Basketball League participated this year and all games are to be played in one week.
Sander Hollanders is a Dutch basketball player who plays for BAL in the Dutch Basketball League (DBL). Standing at 194 cm, he plays as shooting guard. He also plays for the Netherlands national team.
