Young-ja Lee (born 4 June 1931) is a South Korean music educator and composer. She is considered by many the greatest living female Korean composer. [1]
Born in Wonju,she studied at Ewha Womans University,the Conservatoire de Paris,and the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. She continued her education at the Manhattan School of Music. Lee endured hardships during the Japanese occupation and Korean War,but emerged to become one of the dominant forces in Korean music in the 20th century. [2]
She was one of the six founding members of the Korean Society of Women Composers and served as the first president for the organization. She is often called the "Face and Mother of Korean Modern Music." [3] Her works have been performed internationally [4] [5] and are available as recordings. [6]
Young-Ja Lee's music combines elements from French,West African,Indonesian gamelan,and traditional Korean music,creating unusual intercultural compositions. [1] She is also noted for her particular mixtures of Western and Korean music. [7]

Fanny Mendelssohn was a German composer and pianist of the early Romantic era who was known as Fanny Hensel after her marriage. The film is the third and final installment in Park's Vengeance Trilogy,following Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance (2002) and Oldboy (2003). The Housemaid is a 1960 South Korean film,produced,written and directed by Kim Ki-young. It stars Lee Eun-shim,Ju Jeung-nyeo and Kim Jin-kyu. It has been described in Koreanfilm.org as a "consensus pick as one of the top three Korean films of all time". It is the first film in Kim's Housemaid trilogy followed by Woman of Fire and Woman of Fire '82. The film was remade in 2010 by Im Sang-soo.

Koreana,formerly known as Arirang Singers,were a South Korean band. They were formed in 1962 and started being popular internationally after they released their debut album DisCorea on Polydor label in 1979. The single "Dark Eyes" from the eponymous album was a big hit. After the great success,they continued to release more albums:Burning Fantasy (1980) and Highlights (1983). They are best known for playing "Hand In Hand",the official song of the Seoul 1988 Summer Olympics,sung in both Korean and English. The song was released as a single with "Victory" as its B-side,and became a hit. The band followed up with another charting single,"Living For Love",with B-side "One In A Million".
