Youth Education in the Arts, stylized as YEA!, is a non-profit organization based in Allentown, Pennsylvania. It affords young members the opportunity to participate in pageantry events worldwide.

Mission

The mission of this non-profit is "to support the development of young people into magnificent human beings through participation in the performing arts. We achieve this through our program offerings that allow students to perform at the highest level possible." [1]

History

Youth Education in the Arts was founded in 1990, and is presently located at 601 West Hamilton Street in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Its current leadership (as of July 2019) includes: Vicki Ferrence Ray, executive director; Justin Moore, director of operations; and Scott Litzenberg, director of The Cadets. [2]

Programs presented by this organization include the 10-time World Champion Cadets, the 2016 DCA World Champion Cadets2, the 2014 Open Class World Champion Cadets Winter Percussion, Xcape Dance Studio, the Designated Hitters, and USBands.

Each year members of YEA participate in ceremonies celebrating sporting events and political inaugurations, as well as movie premieres and television commercials. YEA performers have most recently performed with recording acts such as Shania Twain and Destiny's Child, appeared on MTV, the Late Show with David Letterman and the Today show, as well as being featured performers in the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. YEA has also provided ensembles for professional sports teams including the New York Jets, New York Knicks, and New Jersey Nets.

Civilian Conservation Corps US voluntary public work relief program

The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was a voluntary public work relief program that operated from 1933 to 1942 in the United States for unemployed, unmarried men ages 18–25 and eventually expanded to ages 17–28. Robert Fechner was the first director of this agency, succeeded by James McEntee following Fechner's death. The CCC was a major part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal that provided manual labor jobs related to the conservation and development of natural resources in rural lands owned by federal, state, and local governments. The CCC was designed to provide jobs for young men and to relieve families who had difficulty finding jobs during the Great Depression in the United States. Maximum enrollment at any one time was 300,000. Through the course of its nine years in operation, 3 million young men participated in the CCC, which provided them with shelter, clothing, and food, together with a wage of $30 per month.

The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps

The Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps is a World Class competitive junior drum and bugle corps. Based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, The Cadets was one of the thirteen founding corps of Drum Corps International (DCI), is a ten-time DCI World Champion, and is the oldest continuously active junior drum and bugle corps in North America.

The Crossmen is a World Class competitive junior drum and bugle corps. Based in San Antonio, Texas, the Crossmen is a member corps of Drum Corps International (DCI).

DeSales University

DeSales University (DSU) is a private Catholic university in Center Valley, Pennsylvania. The university offers traditional, online, and hybrid courses and programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Named for St. Francis de Sales, the university was founded in 1964 as "Allentown College of Saint Francis de Sales" by the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales.

USBands was formed in the Fall of 1988 to provide high school band programs with a competitive circuit featuring top judges from across the continent and a venue for the US Scholastic Band Championship. It is currently operated by Youth Education in the Arts.

Vanguard Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps

The Santa Clara Vanguard Cadets Drum Corps, known as SCVC or simply as the Vanguard Cadets, is an Open Class competitive junior drum corps. Based in Santa Clara, California, the corps is a member of Drum Corps International (DCI) and is the "B" corps of the World Class Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps. On August 7, 2018, the Vanguard Cadets won their sixth DCI Open Class Championship title.

The Savannah Music Festival (SMF) is dedicated to presenting a world-class celebration of the musical arts by creating timeless and adventurous productions that stimulate arts education, foster economic growth, and unite artists and audiences in Savannah. It is the largest musical arts event in Georgia and one of the most distinctive cross-genre music festivals in the world, featuring more than 100 productions over the 17-day festival each spring.

Youth in Arts is a non-profit organization that provides visual and performing arts instruction to public and private school students and enriches the community with cultural events. Youth in Arts has been providing arts education to students in the San Francisco Bay Area since 1970. It is based in San Rafael, Ca. The Artists in Schools program brings artists into classrooms to teach visual and performing arts in extended residencies or shorter workshop programs and also provides training for teachers and parents in supporting students' learning and development through the arts.

Culture of Allentown, Pennsylvania

The culture of Allentown dates back to its settlement in the 18th century. Religious groups, such as the Moravians, wanted to escape persecution in Europe and settle in the newly discovered land. Lenape Native Americans occupied the Lehigh Valley area. 19th and 20th century immigrants include Germans, Italians, Asians, and more recently, Hispanics, and African Americans. The city's culture is based on the diverse population that lives there.

The Calvinist Cadet Corps (CCC) is a non-denominational, non-profit Reformed Christian organization that equips men to mentor boys. The ministry establishes clubs primarily in churches. Clubs meet weekly or biweekly and participate in Bible study, crafts, projects, games, and merit badge achievement programs that explore a boy’s specific interest areas. Outside of the club meetings the members participate in church and community service projects, camping, and other outdoor adventure opportunities. The organization also sponsors a triennial international camporee which is a week-long wilderness camping experience. The event typically draws more than 1200 men and boys.

The Golden Empire Drum and Bugle Corps is an Open Class competitive junior drum and bugle corps. Based in Bakersfield, California, Golden Empire performs in Drum Corps International (DCI) competitions.

Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps

The Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps is a World Class competitive junior drum and bugle corps. Based in Austin, Texas, Genesis performs in Drum Corps International (DCI) competitions.

Watchmen Drum and Bugle Corps

The Watchmen Drum and Bugle Corps is an Open Class competitive junior drum and bugle corps. Based in Riverside, California, the Watchmen perform in Drum Corps International (DCI) competitions.

Railmen Drum and Bugle Corps (2013)

The Railmen Drum and Bugle Corps (2013) is an all-age/alumni drum and bugle corps. Based in Blair, Nebraska, the Railmen compete as a SoundSport team and perform in exhibition at a Drum Corps International (DCI) competitions in and near the corps' home state of Nebraska. The organization's intent is to build a complete drum corps organization with cadet, junior, and alumni/all-age drum and bugle corps along with Winter guard and indoor percussion ensembles.

The Chicago Philharmonic is an American orchestra based in Chicago, Illinois, governed by the Chicago Philharmonic Society. Founded in 1988 by principals of the Lyric Opera Orchestra of Chicago, it is a musician-governed, non-profit organization consisting of nearly 200 classical music performers from the Chicago area. Since 2013, the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor has been Scott Speck.

Young Army Cadets National Movement

Established in October 2015, the All-Russia "Young Army" National Military Patriotic Social Movement Association is a youth organization supported and funded by the Government of Russia through the Ministry of Defence of Russia (MOD) with a mission to train future personnel for the uniformed services and to instill the values of patriotism, national service, national and military history, remembrance of past military operations and campaigns and of the fallen of its armed forces, and to help develop the country as its population grows.

Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts

Columbia Center for Theatrical Arts (CCTA) is a Greater Washington D.C. Area regional theater school based in Columbia, Maryland. CCTA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is funded, in part, by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Maryland State Arts Council, and the Howard County Arts Council from Howard County, Maryland.
