The Zagaran Pass (el. 16,420 ft.) is a high mountain pass that connects Yarkhun River valley in Chitral District to the Gupis valley in Gilgit-Baltistan. [1]
The pass is about 3 miles southwest from Bahushtar Zom peak (5704 m) and about 5 miles east-southeast from Malo Zom peak (5652 m). The border between Chitral and Northern Areas runs through the pass. The top of the pass is on the rapidly retreating glacier. 5 miles to the east of the pass is the valley of Bakhushtaro river that flows southeast for 12 miles up to its confluence with Ghizar river some 6 miles west of village Pinal. To the west of the pass is an unnamed westward directed valley that after 15 miles ends at Yarkhun river some 5 miles northeast of town Mastuj.

The Ghizer District, was a district in the westernmost part of the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan, before splitting into the current Ghizer and Gupis-Yasin districts in 2019. The capital of the district was Gahkuch.

It is located about 50 km (30 mi) northeast of the town of Chitral, and about 50 km (30 mi) east of Tirich Mir, the highest peak in the Hindu Kush.

Karambar Pass is a high mountain pass in Pakistan. It connects the Yarkhun River valley in Pakistan's upper Chitral District to the Karambar river valley in Ishkoman tehsil of Ghizer district in Hunza Valley. Sometimes it is misspelled as Karomber or Kromber pass.
The Chitral Expedition was a military expedition in 1895 sent by the British authorities to relieve the fort at Chitral, which was under siege after a local coup following the death of the old ruler. An intervening British force of about 400 men was besieged in the fort until it was relieved by two expeditions, a small one from Gilgit and a larger one from Peshawar.

Bashkargol Lake is a lake located in the upper Chitral Valley at a distance of about 170 kilometres (110 mi) from Chitral town in Chitral District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. The lake is accessible by a four-wheel drive vehicle to the village of Sor Laspur followed by a kilometer's hike, and is often utilized for camping on the way to base camp of the peak Thalo Zom or to cross Thalo Pass.
