Zakhidenergo (Ukrainian : «Західенерго») is a major electric and thermal energy producing companies in western Ukraine. The electricity generated by the company is supplied to Ukrainian consumers and exported to European countries. The company also includes Burshtyn TES, Ladyzhyn TES and Dobrotvirska TES, as well as service companies Galremenergo, Lvivenergospetsremont, Lvivenergoavtotrans, Zahidenergopostach.
Since July 1, 2002, Burshtyn TES has been operating on the island of Burshtyn TES, in the unified European energy system UCTE / CENTREL, providing coverage of the island's own consumption and transfer of 500 MW of power for export. The island, which forms the Burshtyn TES together with the adjacent network, covers an area of 27,000 km2 with a population of about 3 million people.
PJSC DTEK Zahidenergo is the fifth-largest energy generating company in Ukraine with an installed capacity of 4,707.5 MW, which is about 9% of the total electricity capacity of Ukraine. In terms of electricity production, PJSC DTEK Zahidenergo occupies one of the leading positions among thermal energy generating companies.
The beginning of large-scale development of electric power in Western Ukraine was the construction of Dobrotvirska TES. From 1951 to 1959, 25 MW, 50 MW, 100 MW and two 150 MW power units were put into operation at the station. The formation of Western Ukrainian energy took place as part of BEO Lvivenergo, which united TESs, regional enterprises of electric networks (with main and distribution networks), and energy repair enterprises. The main direction of development was to increase the unit capacity and improve the efficiency of equipment.
In 1962-1969 Burshtyn TES with 200 MW power units was put into operation.
Lvivenergo became the first company of the former USSR to build and operate a nuclear power plant – Rivne NPP, the first power unit of which was introduced in December 1979.
OJSC "Zakhidenergo" was established in 1995, in accordance with the Presidential Decree of 04.04.95 № 282 "On structural adjustment in the power complex of Ukraine", on the basis of thermal power plants BEO "Lvivenergo" – Burshtyn and Dobrotvirska TES, as well as Ladyzhyn TES, which was a part of BEO "Vinnytsiaenergo". OJSC "Zahidenergo" has inherited the high technical level of BEO and the most qualified personnel.
Pursuant to the decision of the regular General Meeting of Shareholders held on March 22, 2011, Zakhidenergo Open Joint-Stock Company was renamed Zakhidenergo Public Joint-Stock Company.
Rinat Akhmetov, who had a 25.06% stake in Zakidenergo, acquired an additional 45.103% stake in November 2011, inexpensively, through his holding DTEK. [1]

The Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) is the Kolkata-based flagship company of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, born from the erstwhile RPG Group, under the chairmanship of businessman Sanjiv Goenka. It is an Indian electricity generation and the sole distribution company serving 567 square kilometres (219 sq mi) of area administered by the Kolkata municipal corporation, in the city of Kolkata, as well as parts of Howrah, Hooghly, 24 Parganas (North) and 24 Parganas (South) districts in the state of West Bengal. It also serves power distribution in Kota, Bikaner and Bharatpur in Rajasthan under the name CESC RAJASTHAN. It serves 3.0 million consumers approximately, which includes domestic, industrial and commercial users.
Korea Electric Power Corporation, better known as KEPCO or Hanjeon, is the largest electric utility in South Korea, responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity and the development of electric power projects including those in nuclear power, wind power and coal. KEPCO, through its subsidiaries, is responsible for 93% of Korea's electricity generation as of 2011. The South Korean government owns a 51.11% share of KEPCO. Together with its affiliates and subsidiaries, KEPCO has an installed capacity of 65,383 MW. On the 2011 Fortune Global 500 ranking of the world's largest companies, KEPCO was ranked 271. Joint Stock Company Inter RAO UES, traded as, is a diversified energy holding company headquartered in Moscow, Russia. Its business includes power and heat generation, electricity supply, international energy trading, engineering, design and development of electric power infrastructure. In addition to its assets in Russia it controls several energy companies outside Russia including thermal and hydro power plants, grid operators and energy traders. It holds a monopoly on the export and import of electricity in Russia.
Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc., abbreviated as Chuden in Japanese, is a Japanese electric utilities provider for the middle Chūbu region of the Honshu island of Japan. It provides electricity at 60 Hz, though an area of Nagano Prefecture uses 50 Hz. Chubu Electric Power ranks third among Japan's largest electric utilities in terms of power generation capacity, electric energy sold, and annual revenue. It is also one of Nagoya's "four influential companies" along with Meitetsu, Matsuzakaya, and Toho Gas. Recently, the company has also expanded into the business of optical fibers. Energy in Armenia is mostly from natural gas. Armenia has no proven reserves of oil or natural gas and currently imports most of its gas from Russia. The Iran-Armenia Natural Gas Pipeline has the capacity to equal imports from Russia.
The Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant is a nuclear power plant in Netishyn, Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine. The plant is operated by Energoatom. Two VVER-1000 reactors are operational, each generating 1000 MW (net) of electricity.

Burshtyn TES is a coal-fired power plant of Zakhidenergo located in Ivano-Frankivsk Raion 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) south-east from Burshtyn, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ukraine. It is part of Rinat Akhmetov's holdings. It was struck by four Russian missiles on 10th of October 2022, amidst massive rocket shelling on Ukraine.
Energy Company of Ukraine is a dissolved state-owned holding company for electricity assets in Ukraine under Ministry of Fuel and Energy. On 4 September 2014, the Government of Ukraine decided to dissolve the company. The process should be carried out within five months.
