Henan is a province of the People's Republic of China, located in the central part of the country. Henan is often referred to as Zhongyuan or Zhongzhou (中州) which literally means "central plain land" or "midland", although the name is also applied to the entirety of China proper. Henan is the birthplace of Chinese civilization with over 3,000 years of recorded history, and remained China's cultural, economical, and political center until approximately 1,000 years ago.

Hà Nam is a province of northern Vietnam, in the Red River Delta. The province's name derives from Sino-Vietnamese 河南, meaning "south of the river".

Henan Mongol Autonomous County is an autonomous county in the south of Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in the province of Qinghai, China, bordering Gansu province to the south and east. Its administrative seat ("capital") is the town of Yêgainnyin (Youganning). Henan has an area of 6,250 km² (2,410 sq mi) and approximately 30,000 inhabitants (2004). The Mongols or Upper Mongols, the overwhelming majority of the inhabitants of the county, do not speak Mongolian and speak primarily Tibetan and Putonghua Chinese. Population percentages by ethnic group given below are based on government-issued identification cards and not necessarily how the population of this area would identify their ethnicity.
