In 2012 [1] the GCC countries established the GCC Futsal Cup like the Arabian Gulf Cup, The tournament was founded in 2012, The First Gulf Cup tournament took place in 2013, [2] and was won by the Kuwaiti team.

Kuwait has been the most successful team in the cup, winning 2 [3] tournaments out of 2 in total.

In May 2016, a new regional governing body was established to organise the competition, known as the Gulf Cup Federation.

The Arabian Gulf Cup, often referred to simply as the Gulf Cup, is a biennial football competition governed by the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation for its eight member nations. The history of the competition has also seen it held every three to four years due to political or organisational problems. The reigning champions are Iraq, having won their fourth title at the 25th edition, as hosts, held in 2023.

The 10th Arabian Gulf Cup was held in Kuwait, between 21 February to 9 March 1990. All matches were played at Peace & Friendship Stadium.

The 1st Arabian Gulf Cup was the first edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup. The first tournament was held in Bahrain. It was won by the Kuwait, who defeated the hosts in the final match to finish first in the round-robin group. The tournament took place between 27 March and 3 April 1970.

The 2nd Arabian Gulf Cup was the second edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup. The tournament was held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and was won by defending champions Kuwait for the second time. The tournament took place between 16 and 28 March 1972. Kuwait won their second consecutive title, edging out Saudi Arabia on goal difference after both nations finished with equal points. This makes it the first time that the title was decided by goal difference.

The 20th Arabian Gulf Cup was the twentieth edition of the biannual Gulf Cup competition, and took place in Aden, Yemen, from 22 November to 5 December 2010. The tournament was held in Yemen for the first time in the tournament's history, and this edition celebrated the 40th anniversary of the cup as well as the 20th anniversary of the tournament.

The 6th Arabian Gulf Cup was the sixth edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup. The tournament was held at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates and took place between 19 March and 4 April 1982. Kuwait won their fifth title after defeating Oman 2–0 on 29 March.

The 11th Arabian Gulf Cup was held in Qatar, in November 1992.

The 12th Arabian Gulf Cup was held in the UAE, in November 1994.

The 13th Arabian Gulf Cup was held in Oman, in October 1996.

The 2013 GCC Futsal Cup was the first edition of the biennial Futsal competition. It took place in Qatar in 2013. The competition was originally scheduled to be hosted in the city of Bahrain, but was moved to Bahrain in October 2012 to ensure that they could suitably host the competition in the 2 edition.

The 2015 GCC Futsal Cup was the second edition of the biennial Futsal competition. It took place in Bahrain in 2015.

The 25th Arabian Gulf Cup, known as Khaleeji Zain 25 for sponsorship reasons, was the 25th edition of the biennial football competition for the eight members of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation. The tournament was hosted in Iraq for the first time since 1979, in the host city of Basra.

The 25th Arabian Gulf Cup is an international football tournament held in Iraq from 6 to 19 January 2023. The 8 national teams involved in the tournament were required to register a squad with a minimum of 18 players and a maximum of 23 players, at least three of whom must be goalkeepers. Only players in these squads are eligible to take part in the tournament.
