Speed metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music that originated in the late 1970s from new wave of British heavy metal (NWOBHM) roots. It is described by AllMusic as "extremely fast, abrasive, and technically demanding" music.
Deep Purple are an English rock band formed in Hertford in 1968. The band is considered to be among the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock, although their musical approach changed over the years. Originally formed as a progressive rock band, the band shifted to a heavier sound in 1970. Deep Purple, together with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, have been referred to as the "unholy trinity of British hard rock and heavy metal in the early to mid-seventies". They were listed in the 1975 Guinness Book of World Records as "the globe's loudest band" for a 1972 concert at London's Rainbow Theatre, and have sold over 100 million copies of their albums worldwide.
Roger David Glover is a British bassist, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the bassist for hard rock bands Deep Purple and Rainbow. Glover wrote the guitar riff on "Maybe I'm a Leo". As a member of Deep Purple, Glover was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April 2016.

Total Abandon: Australia '99 is a double live album and DVD by British hard rock band Deep Purple, recorded at Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia on 20 April 1999. Initially the album was available only in Australia. From 12 October 1999 it was made available as a mail order merchandise in Europe and later was also sold in music stores. In USA the album was not released until 2012.
Live at Montreux 2006: They All Came Down to Montreux is the first live release by English hard rock band Deep Purple's mk VIII lineup. This concert was recorded in Montreux, during 2006 Rapture of the Deep tour. Besides a DVD release, the concert film has also been released on HD DVD and Blu-ray.
"Burn" is a song by British rock band Deep Purple. Its riff is similar to the 1924 song "Fascinating Rhythm". It was released on the album of the same name in 1974, and was the first song by the Mark III lineup. The song remained the band's concert opener for the next two years, taking over from "Highway Star". It opened Deep Purple's set on the California Jam two months after its release, on 6 April 1974.

Around The World Live is British hard rock band Deep Purple's four DVD box-set. It was released on 19 May 2008. The box-set includes four live performances of Deep Purple World Tour (1995–2008), two full-time documentary films about the band and rare footage, including interviews, after-show parties and the band on the road, during the tour. All formats were released on 7 November 2011 by German label Eagle Rock Entertainment. In 2015 a vinyl collector's edition of the album was released for a Record Store Day.

This concert was recorded at the Arena di Verona, a Roman amphitheater originally built in 30 AD, on 18 July 2011. Besides a Blu-ray/DVD release, the concert has also been released in Japan on 2CD. Film of the concert was released on October 21, 2014 by German label Eagle Rock Entertainment. The audio album was released on October 8, 2014 by Ward Records.
