The Nationale 1 Masculin (abbreviated as NM1; in English: National 1 Men) is the highest professional basketball league in Senegal. Established in 1971, the league consists of 16 teams.

Contents

Each season is finished with a final in a single-game elimination format, held at the Marius Ndiaye Stadium in Dakar. AS Douanes is the most successful team in NM1 history with 11 won titles.

The champions of the NM1 qualify directly for the regular season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), the premiere continental league. The bottom two teams are relegated to the second division Nationale 2.

Thierno Ibrahima Niang is a Senegalese basketball player who plays for Jeanne d'Arc of the NM1. He played college basketball with the Milwaukee Panthers men's basketball team, although a nagging back injury reduced his role from impact starter to reserve. Niang also competes at international events with the Senegal national team. He played the sport in high school at Bridgton Academy and went on to represent Triton College in Illinois.

Established in 1956, the team was founded as a basketball club and later became a multisports club, including football, athletics and more.

The men's game consists out of one game which is played in the beginning of the season, between the champions of the Nationale Macsulin 1 (NM1) and the winners of the Saint Michel Cup. It is equivalent to super cup games in other countries.

The Saint-Michel Cup is an annual Senegalese basketball cup competition. Jeanne d'Arc holds the record for most won titles with 13.

Cheikh Bamba "C.B." Diallo is a Senegalese basketball player for AS Loon plage Basket and the Senegal national team. Standing at 1.91 m, he mainly plays as shooting guard.

The 2021 Nationale 1 season was the season of the Nationale 1, the premier basketball league in Senegal. The champions directly qualify for the 2022 Basketball Africa League season.

The 2020–21 season of AS Douanes was the 1st season for the club in the Basketball Africa League. The team began the season on 17 May 2021, in its season opener against Algeria's GS Pétroliers.

Adama Alex Diakhite is a Senegalese basketball player who plays for AS Douanes of the Nationale 1 and the Basketball Africa League (BAL). A 6 ft 9 in (2.06 m) center, he played college basketball in the Philippines before turning professional in 2022.

The Burkinabé Men's Basketball Championship is the top division basketball league in Burkina Faso. The league is organised by the Burkinabé Basketball Federation (FEBBA) and existed of 20 teams in the 2021–22 season.

Jean Jacques Boissy is a Senegalese basketball player who last played for Aurore Vitré Basket and the Senegal national team. Playing at point guard, he is a graduate of the NBA Academy Africa and has played professionally since 2021. Boissy was an All-BAL First Team selection in 2023.

Samba Daly "Pape" Fall is a Senegalese professional basketball player who currently plays for Joeuf-Homécourt Basket. A 1.98 m tall shooting guard or small forward, he has played for the Senegal national team. Fall is a two-time Nationale 1 Finals MVP and a one-time season MVP winner (2023).

The AS Douanes men's basketball team played the 2023 season in the Nationale 1 (NM1) and the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Having won the previous national championship, the Douanes returned to the BAL after one-year of absence. They signed Terrell Stoglin and Chris Crawford for the season as American import players. On 27 September 2023, AS Douanes won its record-setting 11th national championship, thus overtaking ASFA as the Senegalese club with the most NM1 titles.

The 2024 Nationale 1 (N1) season will be the 57th season of the Nationale 1 (NM1), the top-tier basketball league for men's teams in Senegal.

The 2023 Nationale 1 season was the 56th season of the Nationale 1 (NM1), the top-tier basketball league in Senegal. The season began on 21 January and ended on 17 September 2023.
