The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is an automated light metro system opened in 1987 to serve the redeveloped Docklands area of East London, England. It reaches north to Stratford, south to Lewisham across the River Thames, west to Tower Gateway and Bank in the City of London financial district, and east to Beckton, London City Airport, and to Woolwich Arsenal south of the river.
Canary Wharf is a commercial estate on the Isle of Dogs in London, in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. It is one of the main financial centres of the United Kingdom, along with the City of London, and contains many of Europe's tallest buildings, including the second-tallest in the UK, One Canada Square.
Westferry is a station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), at the junction of Limehouse Causeway and Westferry Road in Limehouse in London Docklands, England. The station is located in Travelcard Zone 2. To the west is Limehouse station, whilst to the east the DLR splits, with one branch going to Poplar station and the other to West India Quay station.
The North London line (NLL) is a railway line which passes through the inner suburbs of west, north west and north London, England between Richmond in the south-west and Stratford in the east, avoiding central London. Its route is a rough semicircle.
Blackwall is a sub-district of Poplar in East London, located in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and also forms part of the Port of London. The southern conservation area of Coldharbour is a part of the Isle of Dogs.
The North London Railway (NLR) company had lines connecting the north of London to the East and West India Docks in the east of the city. The main east to west route is now part of London Overground's North London Line. Other NLR lines fell into disuse but were later revived as part of the Docklands Light Railway, and the Overground's East London Line. The company was originally called the East & West India Docks & Birmingham Junction Railway (E&WID&BJR) from its inception in 1850, until 1853. It ceased operations in 1922.
West India Quay is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in Poplar and serves the West India Quay quarter and is close to Canary Wharf. The station is situated near the borderline between the Isle of Dogs and the wider Tower Hamlets and is within the East End of London. It is located at the point where the line from Lewisham splits into branches to Tower Gateway/Bank and Stratford. The next stations on each line are Canary Wharf DLR station, Westferry and Poplar DLR station. The station is in Travelcard Zone 2.
Blackwall is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in Blackwall in London, England. It is located near the north-east corner of the Isle of Dogs and very close to the northern entrance to the Blackwall road tunnel under the River Thames. The station is on the Beckton branch of the DLR between Poplar and East India stations.
All Saints is a light metro station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) Stratford-Lewisham Line in Poplar in East London. The station is named after nearby All Saints, a church dating from 1821–1823. The station entrance is on the East India Dock Road, opposite Chrisp Street Market, and adjacent to the Poplar Baths and also two rail sidings directly west of the station forming part of Poplar DLR depot.
Hackney Central is a London Overground station on the North London Line in Hackney Central, Greater London. It is between Dalston Kingsland and Homerton and is in Travelcard Zone 2. The station and all trains serving it are operated by National Rail services under the control of the London Rail division of Transport for London, however there is no standard red National Rail "double arrow" logo signage located at the station, instead only the Overground roundel.
Bow Church is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in Bow in London, England, which is between Devons Road and Pudding Mill Lane stations. It is interlinked by an out of station interchange (OSI) within 300m walking distance via Bow Road with Bow Road station on London Underground's District and Hammersmith and City lines. The two Bow stations are classed as a single station for ticketing purposes as well as on tube maps but both managed separately. Opened with the original system on 31 August 1987. The station takes its name from the nearby 14th century Bow Church, which is a Church of England church.
Gallions Reach DLR station is a station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) in the Docklands area of east London. It serves the Gallions Reach Retail Park.
London City Airport is a light metro station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) Stratford-Woolwich and Bank-Woolwich Lines; serving London City Airport in East London. It opened on 2 December 2005. It was first located on what was initially King George V branch, and was, until the extension to Woolwich Arsenal was completed, the reason for this branch. It continues to be an important station on the DLR. Trains run westbound to Bank in the City of London, northbound to Stratford International and eastbound to Woolwich Arsenal. The station is in the London Borough of Newham and is located in Travelcard Zone 3.
West Silvertown is a Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station in Silvertown which opened in December 2005. It is located on the Woolwich Arsenal branch. Trains run Westbound to Bank in the City of London and Eastbound to Woolwich Arsenal, passing through London City Airport station.
King George V is a light metro station on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) Stratford-Woolwich and Bank-Woolwich Lines in North Woolwich, East London, which opened on 2 December 2005. The station replaced North Woolwich railway station on the North London Line and is named after King George V Dock nearby in the London Borough of Newham. King George V is in Travelcard Zone 3. Station and on-train announcements refer to the name in its only said form: 'King George the Fifth'.
South Bromley railway station was a former railway station in South Bromley, London, on the North London Railway between Bow and Poplar. It opened in 1884 but was closed in 1944 after bomb damage in the Blitz cut off the railway east of Dalston Junction.
Poplar was a railway station located on the East India Dock Road in Poplar, London. It was opened in 1866 by the North London Railway. It was the southern passenger terminus of the NLR, although goods trains ran on to connect to the London and Blackwall Railway (LBR) for the East India Docks or to the LBR's Millwall Extension Railway for the West India Docks.
Millwall Junction was a railway station in Poplar, east London, on the London and Blackwall Railway (LBR). Despite the name, it was not in Millwall, but rather it marked where the LBR southern branch to Millwall and North Greenwich, which served the West India Docks, branched off the main line. It was between West India Docks station and Poplar station, 2 miles 64 chains (4.5 km) down-line from Fenchurch Street, with South Dock the next stop on the Millwall branch.
