Saint Joseph's University is a private Jesuit university in Philadelphia and Lower Merion Township, Pennsylvania. The university was founded by the Society of Jesus in 1851 as Saint Joseph's College. Saint Joseph's is the seventh oldest Jesuit university in the United States and the sixth largest university in Philadelphia. It is named after Saint Joseph. Due to 2022 merger with University of the Sciences, Saint Joseph's administration now traces its history to 1821 as it continues to "... celebrate the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy’s (PCP) School of Health Professions Founders’ Day, a 203-year-old tradition marking the establishment of the nation’s first pharmacy school, now a cornerstone of Saint Joseph’s...".
The Miami RedHawks are the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I intercollegiate athletic teams that represent Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, United States. Miami is a member of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) East Division and sponsors teams in nine men's and ten women's NCAA sanctioned sports; the RedHawks hockey team is a member of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference. The football team competes in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), the highest level for college football. The Redhawks are arch-rivals with the Ohio Bobcats. In box scores for sporting events, the RedHawks sports teams are usually referred to as Miami (OH) to differentiate from the Miami Hurricanes, a Division I school in Florida.
The Wichita State Shockers are the athletic teams that represent Wichita State University, located in Wichita, Kansas, in intercollegiate sports as a member of the NCAA Division I ranks, primarily competing in the American Athletic Conference since the 2017–18 academic year. The Hawks compete in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association as a member of the Atlantic 10 Conference and of the Philadelphia Big 5. The school also has intramurals and extramurals, the latter of which compete with the City 6. The school is mostly known for its men's basketball team. The Hawk became the school's mascot in 1929. It first flapped its wings at a basketball game in 1956 in a win over La Salle University. The Saint Joseph's school colors are crimson and gray.

It is home to the Miami RedHawks baseball team, who play at the Division I level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as members of the Mid-American Conference (MAC). The field, with a capacity of 1,000 spectators, opened on March 24, 2002, for a game against Purdue. The RedHawks lost 8–0 in the game, which was played in front of 1,178 spectators.

The Hawks, led by seventeenth year head coach Cindy Griffin, play their home games at Hagan Arena and were members of the Atlantic 10 Conference. They finished the season 19–15, 10–6 in A-10 play to finish in a tie for fifth place. They advanced to the championship game of the A-10 women's tournament where they lost to George Washington. They received an at-large bid to the Women's National Invitation Tournament where they defeated Seton Hall in the first round before losing to West Virginia in the second round.

They finished the season 12–19, 7–9 in A-10 play to finish in a 3-way tie for eighth place. They advanced to the quarterfinals of the A-10 women's tournament where they lost VCU.
John W. Smithson Field is a baseball venue in Merion Station, Pennsylvania, United States. It is home to the Saint Joseph's Hawks baseball team of the NCAA Division I Atlantic 10 Conference. The field hosted its first game in spring 2012. The venue has a capacity of 400 spectators. It is named for John Smithson, Saint Joseph's alumni and once interim president of Saint Joseph's University.
