UNA Europe Network is a network of United Nations Associations (UNAs) based in Europe.

Europe Continent in the Northern Hemisphere and mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere

Europe is a continent located entirely in the Northern Hemisphere and mostly in the Eastern Hemisphere. It is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west and the Mediterranean Sea to the south. It comprises the westernmost part of Eurasia.

United Nations Associations are Non-Governmental Organisations, usually with individual and organizational members. They are peoples movements with the common goal of working for a better and stronger United Nations. Often they work with information, advocacy, international cooperation and fundraising. There are over 100 UNA's around the world and are presently organized in a world federation, World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA). [1]

United Nations Intergovernmental organization

The United Nations (UN) is an intergovernmental organization that was tasked to maintain international peace and security, develop friendly relations among nations, achieve international co-operation and be a centre for harmonizing the actions of nations. The headquarters of the UN is in Manhattan, New York City, and is subject to extraterritoriality. Further main offices are situated in Geneva, Nairobi, and Vienna. The organization is financed by assessed and voluntary contributions from its member states. Its objectives include maintaining international peace and security, protecting human rights, delivering humanitarian aid, promoting sustainable development and upholding international law. The UN is the largest, most familiar, most internationally represented and most powerful intergovernmental organization in the world. In 24 October 1945, at the end of World War II, the organization was established with the aim of preventing future wars. At its founding, the UN had 51 member states; there are now 193. The UN is the successor of the ineffective League of Nations.

World Federation of United Nations Associations charitable organization

The World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) was founded in 1946 as a Federation of national associations. Its obectives are to promote the values of the UN Charter, defend multilateralism, work towards a better United Nations Organisation and raise awareness on the main pillars of work of the United Nations - peace and security, sustainable development, and human rights.

United Nations Association – UK organization

The United Nations Association – UK (UNA-UK) is the leading independent policy authority on the United Nations in the UK, and a UK-wide grassroots membership organisation.

United Nations Youth Associations (UNYAs) are youth-led NGOs entirely consisting of young volunteers. These associations are supporting the goals and pronciples of the United Nations Charter and it is their aim to promote these principles and the work of the United Nations among their national civil society.

A United Nations Association (UNA) is a non-governmental organization that exist in various countries to enhance the relationship between the people of member states and the United Nations to raise public awareness of the UN and its work, to promote the general goals of the UN.

United Nations Association of Australia organization

The United Nations Association of Australia (UNAA) is the official non-profit, non-government, membership-based, organisation in Australia working on behalf of the United Nations core body to promote its overall aims and ideals, and equally seeking to build support for the UN's programs, activities and agencies. The UNAA official mission is "to inform, inspire and engage all Australians regarding the work, goals and values of the UN to create a safer, fairer and more sustainable world". It has division offices in every State and Territory of Australia, with the national office run out of Canberra. Its National President is Major General (Ret'd) Michael G Smith AO, who succeeded Australian Senator Russell Trood in 2016, who in turn had succeeded Australian Politician Robert Hill in 2012.

The United Nations Association of Slovenia was established in 1951, supporting the United Nations in its role as a keeper of global peace and stability. Following the Slovene Declaration of independence on 25 June 1991, Slovenia was accepted as the 176th member state of the UN. Soon thereafter, on 6 November 1992, UNA Slovenia was accepted into the circle of United Nations Associations as a member of World Federation of United Nations Associations.

United Nations Association of Turkey was established in 1946 by the following founding members;

United Nations Association of the National Capital Area

The United Nations Association of the National Capital Area (UNA-NCA) is a non profit membership organization based in Washington DC. It is dedicated to building understanding of and support for the ideals and vital work of the United Nations among American people. It is dedicated to educating, inspiring and mobilizing Americans to support the principles and work of the United Nations, as well as strengthening the United Nations system, promoting constructive United States leadership in that system and achieving the goals of the United Nations Charter.

The Italian Society for International Organization or SIOI is a non-profit organization operating under the supervision of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It was founded in 1944 and it nowadays represents one of the leader societies for international relations, cooperation and liaison with the leading international organizations. The current president is Franco Frattini, former Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs. The foundation is also a top flight institution in the school of government and in the education of international executives and diplomats addressed to the European Union, the United Nations and the most important international institutions and organizations.

The United Nations Association of Russia (UNA-Russia) is a non-profit organization dedicated to building understanding of and support for the ideals and work of the United Nations in the Russian Federation.

Foreign Policy and United Nations Association of Austria charitable organization

The Foreign Policy and United Nations Association of Austria (UNA-Austria) was founded in 2008, when the "United Nations Association of Austria" and the "Austrian Association for Foreign Policy and International Relations" were merged. UNA-Austria is a founding member of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) and has as well an independent youth organization, the United Nations Youth and Students Association of Austria (UNYSA-Austria).

Park Soo-gil is a South Korean diplomat and the president of the World Federation of United Nations Associations, re-elected in November 2012 and to a third term in November 2015. WFUNA comprises over 100 national UN associations, which promote and support the work of the United Nations in their countries, including educational programs such as model United Nations. He is a former ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the United Nations, where he also served as president of the Security Council in May 1997. Prior to that, he served as deputy foreign minister and as the Korean ambassador to Morocco and Canada.

2016 United Nations Security Council election

The 2016 United Nations Security Council election was held on 28 June during the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly, held at United Nations Headquarters in New York City. The elections were for five non-permanent seats on the UN Security Council for two-year mandates commencing on 1 January 2017. In accordance with the Security Council's rotation rules, whereby the ten non-permanent UNSC seats rotate among the various regional blocs into which UN member states traditionally divide themselves for voting and representation purposes, the five available seats were allocated as follows:

The Confederation of Independent Football Associations (CONIFA) is the international governing body for non-FIFA affiliated associations of Association Football. Currently, CONIFA is responsible for the organization of the ConIFA World Football Cup and the CONIFA European Football Cup.

2016 United Nations Secretary-General selection

A United Nations Secretary-General selection was held in October 2016 to choose the ninth Secretary-General of the United Nations to succeed Ban Ki-moon from 1 January 2017. Six straw polls were held in the Security Council from 21 July 2016 to 5 October 2016. António Guterres of Portugal led the polling in every round, finishing the last round with 13 'encourage' votes, 0 'discourage' votes, and 2 abstentions. On 6 October 2016, the Security Council unanimously recommended Guterres to the General Assembly, which formally selected him by acclamation on 13 October 2016.

United Nations Association of the Philippines

The United Nations Association of the Philippines is a national civic, non-sectarian and non-partisan organization, established in 1947 to help promote in the Philippines the ideals and objectives of the United Nations. To this end, it strives at all times to promote world understanding, cooperation and peace among nations based on human dignity and universal friendship. UNAP is a member of the World Federation of United Nations Associations, based in New York and Geneva, Switzerland.
