The 2024 NRLW Premiership will be the seventh professional season of Women's rugby league in Australia. The number of teams (ten), start date (25 July 2024) and duration of the season (eleven weeks) was confirmed by the NRL, with the release of the draw on 13 November 2023. [1] Possible expansion in the number of teams for 2024 had been discussed by the Australian Rugby League Commission during October 2023. [2] [3]

Scheduling

Ten teams will play each other once across nine rounds, followed by a two-week final series involving the top four teams. First place on the ladder plays fourth-place and second-place plays third-place in semi-finals, with the winners meeting in the Grand Final. [12]

The start, duration, and conclusion of the 2024 season was influenced by several factors.

Players and transfers

The 2024 season salary cap for clubs is $1,020,000 and the minimum wage for contracted players is $34,000. Squad size is 24 players plus 4 development players. [12] The first transfer signing was announced on 20 October 2023. Clubs are required to fill their 24-player roster by late May 2024.

The Telstra NRL Women's Premiership (NRLW) is Australia's national rugby league competition for female players. The first season of the league began in September 2018 with four teams. The league is run by the National Rugby League (NRL) and is contested by a subset of clubs from that competition. The current premiers are the Newcastle Knights.

The 2021 St. George Illawarra Dragons season was the 23rd in the joint venture club's history. The Dragons' men's team competed in the NRL's 2021 Telstra Premiership season. The 2021 NRLW premiership was the fourth professional season of Women's rugby league in Australia. The season was planned to start in August 2021, postponed to October 2021 and further postponed to 2022 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Sydney Roosters Women are a rugby league team, representing the Eastern Suburbs region of Sydney. The team is part of the Sydney Roosters club and plays in the National Rugby League Women's Premiership.

The 2023 NRLW Premiership was the sixth professional season of Women's rugby league in Australia. As announced in March 2022 by the governing body, the National Rugby League, the number of teams increased from six to ten.
The duration of the season was confirmed by the NRL in a media release on 14 February 2023 as nine rounds followed by semi-finals and a Grand Final.

The 2023 Newcastle Knights season was the 36th in the club's history. Coached by Adam O'Brien and co-captained by Jayden Brailey and Kalyn Ponga, they competed in the NRL's 2023 Telstra Premiership, finishing the regular season in 5th place, thus reaching the finals. The Knights made it to the second week of finals, before being knocked out by the New Zealand Warriors.

The Gold Coast Titans Women are a professional rugby league football club, based on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The team is part of the Gold Coast Titans club and plays in the National Rugby League Women's Premiership (NRLW), Australia's premier club competition for women. On 11 June 2021, the NRL announced that the club's application for a licence to join the NRLW had been accepted, as part of the expansion of the competition for the 2021 season. In early September 2021, the NRL announced that due to border restrictions then in place to mitigate COVID-19, the 2021 season would be postponed to early in the new year. The Titans Women played their first game on 27 February 2022. The team's first win came the following week, in Round 2, 26–16, over the eventual premiers, the Sydney Roosters.

The 2024 Newcastle Knights season is the 37th in the club's history. Coached by Adam O'Brien and captained by Kalyn Ponga, they compete in the NRL's 2024 Telstra Premiership.
