Amar Radio

Coordinates: 51°30′16″N0°22′36″W / 51.50455°N 0.37669°W / 51.50455; -0.37669 Amar Radio is a community radio channel, aimed at the Asian community. Based in Southall, London, it was launched on 27 June 2002 as Akash Radio. [1]

Radio is the technology of using radio waves to carry information, such as sound and images, by systematically modulating properties of electromagnetic energy waves transmitted through space, such as their amplitude, frequency, phase, or pulse width. When radio waves strike an electrical conductor, the oscillating fields induce an alternating current in the conductor. The information in the waves can be extracted and transformed back into its original form.

Southall is a large suburban district of west London, England, and part of the London Borough of Ealing. It is situated 10.7 miles (17.2 km) west of Charing Cross. Neighbouring places include Yeading, Hayes, Hanwell, Hounslow, Greenford and Northolt. The area is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London.

During May 2010, Akash Radio had a change of management with the name, imaging and content all undergoing a refresh. Akash Radio became known as Amar Radio. [2] In December 2010, Jaswant Singh, the President of Southall's Miri Piri Gurdwara bought Amar Radio with plans to give the station an overhaul. [3]

Amar Radio is accessible via its website worldwide and features popular discussion, cultural, and bhangra shows. Amar Radio was available across the United Kingdom and Ireland from Sky Digital until 15 August 2011. [4]

The station has won two Asian award nominations for best radio station,[ citation needed ] and is a sponsor of shows and melas within the local community.

Mela

Mela is a Sanskrit word meaning 'gathering' or 'to meet' or a 'fair'. It is used in the Indian subcontinent for all sizes of gatherings and can be religious, commercial, cultural or sport-related. In rural traditions melas or village fairs were of great importance. This led to their export around the world by south Asian diaspora communities wishing to bring something of that tradition to their new countries.

Sunrise Radio Group Limited was a UK radio broadcaster, and ran Sunrise Radio. The company also used to own London Media Company Limited. In January 2014, Sunrise Radio Limited, owners of Sunrise Radio 1, Sunrise Radio 3, Time 107.5 and Tristar 96.6, fell into administration, and were acquired for an estimated £2m on 4 February 2014.

AAP TV

AAP TV(Azad Kashmir, Abaseen & Pothohar Television) is UK’s first Pothwari/Pahari television channel for the British Pothwari & Pahari community. AAP TV was formerly named Aapna Channel which shut down in March and then re-opened as AAP TV. AAP is based in Bradford, West Yorkshire & owned by Sharda International Ltd. The test transmission of the station occurred in July 2008, and the channel went live in August. It can be found on SKY 803.

9XM Music Channel

9XM is an Indian pay television music channel based in Mumbai. The channel is owned by 9X Media, an Indian television business. 9XM's programming is focused on Hindi-language music videos.

Life OK Indian television channel

Life OK was a Hindi language Indian cable and satellite television channel based in India, part of Star India, which was fully owned by 21st Century Fox. The channel launched on 18 December 2011, and is distributed in many parts of the world. The channel replaced STAR India's now defunct youth-oriented channel STAR One. The channel underwent an identity change on 28 August 2017 by replacing Life OK. The entire channel name and branding has been changed and the channel is known as STAR Bharat.

Westside Radio 89.6FM is a community radio station based in Hanwell, Greater London broadcasting to the surrounding area of West London offering music and local information. The station was launched on 13 September 2007 after being awarded a community radio licence by Ofcom.

Colors Rishtey

Colors Rishtey is a Hindi TV channel. It is broadcast in Mumbai. The channel broadcasts re-runs of programming from Colors.

British Muslim TV is a UK-based, free-to-air, English language, Islamic-focused satellite television channel funded by advertising and donations.

News18 India

News18 India is an Indian television channel owned by Network 18. It was launched in 2005 as Channel 7 by Dainik Jagaran and acquired in 2006 by Network 18 and rebranded IBN7. In 2016 it took its current name.

Colors Cineplex

Colors Cineplex is a Bollywood movie channel, owned by Viacom 18. It launched on Airtel digital TV on 29 March 2016.

Star Bharat Indian Television Channel

Star Bharat is a Hindi language Indian television channel based in India, part of Star India, which is fully owned by 21st Century Fox. Star Bharat programs are mainly focused on day to day entertainment. It launched on 28 August 2017, and replaced Life OK.

The 25th Star Screen Awards ceremony honoured the best Indian Hindi-language films of 2018. The ceremony was held on 16 December 2018 and broadcast in India on Star Plus on 31 December 2018. Actors Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal hosted the event with comedian Sunil Grover, who hosted the technical awards segment. Additionally, Salman Khan introduced and concluded the awards ceremony.
