The Gambino Family was an American hip hop group founded by Master P in 1997, named after the Gambino crime family. The four members of the group were Lil Gotti (after John Gotti), Malachi, Pheno and Reginelli (after Marco Reginelli).
The Gambino Family made their debut mainstream appearance in 1997 on the soundtrack to I'm Bout It on the song "Why They Wanna See Me Dead". After appearing on numerous No limit releases in 1998, including Steady Mobb'n's Black Mafia , Soulja Slim's Give It 2 'Em Raw and Fiend's There's One in Every Family , the group's debut album entitled Ghetto Organized was released on October 20, 1998. Though it found big success on the Billboard charts, peaking at #17 on the Billboard 200 and #3 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. In 1999 Malachi and Reginelli formed the group Young Guns, appearing on Lil Soldiers' Boot Camp album and Master P's Only God Can Judge Me. They joined TRU Records in 2000, appearing together on C-Murder's Trapped In Crime, and on C-Murder's albums: Reginelli on C-P-3.com, Malachi on Tru Dawgs and Screamin' 4 Vengeance.

Jeffrey Bruce Atkins Sr., better known by his stage name Ja Rule, is an American rapper, singer, and actor. Born and raised in New York City, Ja Rule became known as a leading figure in 2000s hip hop for his blending of gangsta rap with commercially-oriented pop sensibilities. He signed with Irv Gotti's Murder Inc Records, an imprint of Def Jam Recordings to release his debut studio album Venni Vetti Vecci (1999), which spawned his first single "Holla Holla". Ja Rule peaked the Billboard Hot 100 thrice in 2001 with his single "Always on Time" and his guest appearances on Jennifer Lopez's "I'm Real " and "Ain't It Funny". His encompassing singles, "Put It on Me", "Mesmerize", "Livin' It Up" and "Wonderful" have peaked within the top ten of the chart and spawned from commercially successful album releases.
Percy Robert Miller Sr., better known by his stage name Master P, is an American rapper, record producer, record executive, actor and entrepreneur. He founded the record label No Limit Records in 1991, which was relaunched into the spin-off labels New No Limit Records and No Limit Forever Records. Miller gained fame in the mid-1990s as the lead member and founder of the label's hip hop group TRU, as well as his fifth solo album Ice Cream Man (1996) and its namesake lead single. His 1997 single, "Make 'Em Say Uhh!" received platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
Mia Young, better known by her stage name Mia X, is an American rapper and songwriter from New Orleans. She enjoyed success in the local "bounce" scene of the early 1990s. She was the first female emcee to get a contract with rapper and entertainment magnate, Master P on his successful record label No Limit Records. She is known for collaborations with several No Limit Records artists, including Master P and Silkk the Shocker on the seminal albums, Ice Cream Man, Ghetto D and Charge It 2 Da Game.
Percy Romeo Miller, also known by his stage name Romeo, is an American rapper, actor, and television personality. He gained fame as a rapper in the early 2000s after signing with his father, Master P's record label No Limit Records. His 2001 debut single, "My Baby" peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and preceded his debut studio album Lil' Romeo, which peaked at number six on the US Billboard 200.
Lloyd Polite Jr. is an American R&B singer. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, and raised in Decatur, Georgia, he began his musical career as a member of the preteen-boy band N-Toon, which was formed by Joyce Irby in 1996. The group disbanded in 2001, and Polite signed with record executive Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. Records, an imprint of Def Jam Recordings in 2003 to pursue a solo career. His 2004 debut single, "Southside" peaked within the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 and led his debut studio album of the same name (2004), which entered the Billboard 200 at number 11. His second album, Street Love (2007) debuted at number two on the chart and was supported by the Billboard Hot 100-top 20 singles "You" and "Get It Shawty".
McKinley Phipps, Jr., better known simply as Mac, is an American rapper from New Orleans' 3rd Ward. He began rapping as a child, releasing his debut album The Lyrical Midget at the age of 13 in 1990, under the stage name Lil Mac. Mac would eventually sign with Master P's No Limit Records and would grow to be one of the most critically acclaimed artists on the label, both as a solo rapper and as a member of the super group 504 Boyz. Mac released 2 solo albums and 1 album as part of the 504 Boyz on No Limit, including 1998's Shell Shocked, which peaked at #11 on the US Billboard 200.
Kane & Abel is an American hip hop duo formed by twin brothers Daniel and David Garcia that were founded by Master P in late 1995. They were best known for their time with No Limit Records.

After debuting on the charts with 197,000 copies sold its first week out, Life or Death achieved platinum status moving over 2 million copies by the end of 1999. In its second week of release, the album charted at number 7 on the Billboard 200, then at number 10 in its third week.

It was produced by Beats By the Pound, Ke'Noe, Meech Wells and Battlecat. Da Crime Family debuted at #5 and peaked on the Billboard 200 and #2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums, selling over 139,000 copies in its first week. The album was held from the #1 position on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums by Ja Rule's Venni Vetti Vecci. Da Crime Family contains the lead single "Hoody Hooo" which made it to #11 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks. The other single "Tru Homies" peaked at #6 on the Hot Rap Singles and #61 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks. The album was certified Gold by RIAA.

Black Mafia is the second studio album released by American hip hop duo Steady Mobb'n. It was released on November 24, 1998, through No Limit Records, and was produced by Beats By the Pound and Meech Wells; according to group member Billy Bavgate, the record was completed in one week. The only released single, "Ghetto Life", was a minor hit, but the album failed to match the major success of their 1997 debut Pre-Meditated Drama, peaking at #82 on the Billboard 200 and #19 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Steady Mobb'n departed No Limit thereafter. Most critics blame the albums lackluster sales and weak delivery on the account of DJ Daryl not being present on the album. Black Mafia had sold 21,000 copies in its first week.

No Limit Greatest Hits is a 2006 two-disc greatest hits album released on August 1, 2006 by Priority Records. The compilation managed to make it to #56 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Prior to the release of this compilation, No Limit Records went bankrupt in 2003 which resulted in Master P selling the back catalog of the label. Today, EMI owns the No Limit back catalog. Due to no longer owning No Limit, Master P had no involvement in the making of this compilation.

The label included artists such as Snoop Dogg, Mercedes, Silkk the Shocker, Mystikal, Mia X, Mac, C-Murder, Magic, Romeo Miller, Fiend, Kane & Abel, and Soulja Slim. Anthony Boswell, head of Bout It Bout It Management, served as the vice president of operations as well as head of management for the label.
Vyshonn King Miller, better known by his stage name Silkk the Shocker, is an American rapper and actor from New Orleans, Louisiana. The brother of Master P, Miller signed with his record label No Limit Records, an imprint of Priority Records to release his debut studio album, The Shocker (1996). Despite unfavorable critical reception, his second and third albums—Charge It 2 da Game (1998) and Made Man (1999)—were both met with minor critical inclines while receiving platinum certifications by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA); the latter debuted atop the Billboard 200.
