The 23 municipalities of the Central Finland Region (Finnish : Keski-Suomi; Swedish : Mellersta Finland) in Finland are divided on six sub-regions.

Western Finland was a province of Finland from 1997 to 2009. It bordered the provinces of Oulu, Eastern Finland and Southern Finland. It also bordered the Gulf of Bothnia towards Åland. Tampere was the largest city of the province.
The former Province of Western Finland in Finland was divided into seven regions, 34 districts and 192 municipalities.
Jämsänkoski is a former town and municipality of Finland in the Central Finland region. It is located near Lake Päijänne and the Jämsänjoki river. The town had a population of 7,351 in 2008. It covered an area of 448.67 km² of which 48.02 km² is water. The population density was 16.9 inhabitants per km².
Äänekoski is a town in Finland. It is located in the Central Finland region, about 45 kilometres (28 mi) north of Jyväskylä. The town has a population of 17,977 and covers an area of 1,138.39 square kilometres (439.53 sq mi) of which 253.84 km2 (98.01 sq mi) is water. The population density is 20.32 inhabitants per square kilometre (52.6/sq mi).
Sub-regions are divisions used for statistical purposes in Finland. The country is divided into 69 sub-regions, which are formed by groups of municipalities within the 19 regions of Finland. These sub-regions represent a LAU 1 level of division used in conjunction with the Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics.
Jyväskylän maalaiskunta, 'The Rural Municipality of Jyväskylä' is a former municipality of Finland. Together with Korpilahti, Jyväskylän maalaiskunta was consolidated with Jyväskylä on 1 January 2009. It was the last municipality to carry the name maalaiskunta.
Jämsä is a town and municipality of Finland. It is located in the Central Finland region, about 58 kilometres (36 mi) southwest of Jyväskylä. The municipality has a population of 19,175, which makes it the second largest town of the Central Finland after Jyväskylä. It covers an area of 1,823.90 square kilometres (704.21 sq mi) of which 252.57 km2 (97.52 sq mi) is water. The population density is 12.2 inhabitants per square kilometre (32/sq mi).
Korpilahti is a former municipality of Finland. Together with Jyväskylän maalaiskunta, Korpilahti was consolidated with Jyväskylä on January 1, 2009.
Central Finland is a region in Finland. It borders the regions of Päijät-Häme, Pirkanmaa, South Ostrobothnia, Central Ostrobothnia, North Ostrobothnia, North Savo, and South Savo. The city of Jyväskylä is the regional centre and by far the largest city in the area. The Central Finland lies slightly south of the geographical centre of Finland. The landscape is hilly and a large part of the province belongs to the Finnish Lakeland.

The Central Finland Province was a province of Finland from 1960 to 1997. The area of the Central Finland Province was the same as the area of Central Finland region.
Maalaiskunta (Finnish), landskommun (Swedish), "rural municipality", abbreviated mlk, was one of the four types of municipality in Finland in 1865–1976. Other types in 1865–1959 were city and market town, in 1960–1976 old city, new city and market town. Maalaiskunta was the most common type of municipality. In the 1977 reform, all municipalities were given fully equal legal standing. Previous maalaiskuntas associated with a city retained their name. For example, Rovaniemen maalaiskunta surrounded the city of Rovaniemi, but were independently governed. From 2009, no municipalities will carry this name any more, after the merger of Jyväskylä and Jyväskylän mlk.
Vespuoli is a district in Jyväskylä, Finland. It is a part of Korpilahti, which became a part of Jyväskylä in 2009. The area is located on the eastern shores of lake Päijänne, while the rest of Korpilahti is located on the western side.

Haapaniemi is a district of Jyväskylä in Central Finland, located to the south of Vaajakoski. Before 2009, it was a part of Jyväskylän maalaiskunta and was one of its register villages. The distance to central Jyväskylä is roughly 6 km.
