People's Justice Front or in Malay : Angkatan Keadilan Rakyat (AKAR) was a splinter party of Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) formed in 1989 which was led by Dusun and Bajau ethnic-based leaders namely Mark Koding, Kalakau Untol and Pandikar Amin Mulia. [1] [2] In 1995, AKAR had gone through a leadership crisis between Pandikar Amin Mulia and Jeffrey Kitingan. [3] The party's name was later changed to United People's Justice Front or in Malay : Angkatan Keadilan Rakyat Bersatu (AKAR BERSATU). AKAR BERSATU was dissolved to enable its members to join UMNO in 2001.

Reformasi is a political movement in Malaysia. It was initiated in September 1998 by Anwar Ibrahim, former Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia, after he was sacked from his position by Malaysia's then-Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohamad. The movement, which began while the country hosted the Commonwealth Games, initially demanded the resignation of Malaysia's then-Prime Minister, Mahathir Mohamad, and for the end of alleged corruption and cronyism within the Barisan Nasional-led (BN) government. It later became a reformist movement demanding social equality and social justice in Malaysia. The movement consisted of civil disobedience, demonstrations, sit-ins, rioting, occupations and online activism.

Jeffrey Gapari Kitingan is Malaysian politician. He served as the Deputy Chief Minister II of Sabah from 2020 to 2023 and State Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries since 2020. In January 2023, he was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister I of Sabah succeeding Bung Mokhtar, who was dropped due to a political crisis.

The 1994 Sabah state election was held between Friday, 18 February and Saturday, 19 February 1994. Nomination day was 7 February 1994. The election was one of the most controversial election in Sabah's political history. The election was won by the incumbent ruling party Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), winning 25 state electorates against 23 won by the federal government's ruling Barisan Nasional coalition.

Pandikar Amin bin Mulia is a Malaysian politician who has served as President of United Sabah National Organisation (New) since February 2021. He served as 8th Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat from April 2008 to April 2018, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department from December 1999 to November 2002, State Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries of Sabah from May 1997 to March 1999, State Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports of Sabah from March 1994 to May 1997, Member of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Tempasuk from March 2004 to March 2008 and Usukan from 1982 to 1985 and President of the People's Justice Front (AKAR) from 1989 to 1995.

Dr. Afif bin Bahardin is a Malaysian politician who has served as Member of the Penang State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Seberang Jaya from May 2013 until March 2023. The United Sabah National Organisation (New) (Malay: Parti Pertubuhan Kebangsaan Sabah Bersatu (Baru); abbrev: USNO (Baru)) is a political party in Sabah, Malaysia. The party was formed in 2013 with the aim of reviving the long-buried struggle of USNO Sabah. The establishment of the new USNO Party was inspired by the struggle of Tun Mustapha Harun in the dissolved USNO Party in favor of peninsula-based UMNO. This party is also the main component party of the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah Party (GRS) since 2022.

The Gagasan Rakyat was an opposition Malaysian political coalition. The now defunct political coalition was founded by Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah's formation of Parti Melayu Semangat 46 after leaving United Malays National Organisation (UMNO) that was declared illegal. The coalition consisted Semangat 46, Democratic Action Party (DAP), United Sabah Party (PBS), Malaysian People's Party (PRM), Indian Progressive Front (IPF) and Malaysian Solidarity Party (MSP) as the coalition components. It were also joined by three other component members from its allied opposition Angkatan Perpaduan Ummah (APU) coalition also led by Razaleigh consisting of himself Razaleigh's Spirit of 46 Malay Party (S46), Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), Pan-Malaysian Islamic Front (BERJASA), Muslim People's Party of Malaysia (HAMIM) and Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (KIMMA). On 25 January 1995, Parti Tindakan Demokratik withdrew from the coalition.

Malaysian Social Justice Party or (PEKEMAS) was a political party formed by Tan Chee Khoon and Syed Hussein Alatas in 1972. On 19 July 1974, Parti Marhaen Malaysia merged with the party. The party was dissolved in 1982.

Gabungan Rakyat Sabah, also officially known as the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah Party or for shorts GRS Party is an official registered political coalition and also a single entity political party in Sabah, Malaysia. Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor is the founder and the inaugural chairman holder of this registered political coalition. At the state level, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah is a coalition of parties with the same formula as Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) which promotes unity between the president of the local party and the local people. GRS is the coalition of political parties that has the most party components in Malaysia with 7 local parties in the coalition.

Prabakaran a/l Parameswaran is a Malaysian politician and law student who has served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Batu since May 2018. He is a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition, and was an independent before joining PKR. He has also served as the Division Chief of PKR of Batu since July 2022. He served as the Youth Chief of PKR of Federal Territory from February 2020 to August 2022. He is also presently the second youngest MP at the age of 27 after Sungai Petani MP Mohammed Taufiq Johari who was born a month later than him. He was the youngest MP from 2018 to 2022 after Johari was elected. However, he is the youngest to be elected at the age of 22 years, 90 days in 2018 in the history of Malaysia.

Mohammed Taufiq bin Johari is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sungai Petani since November 2022. He is a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR), a component party of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition. He is the sole Kedah PH MP and son of Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat and former Sungai Petani MP Johari Abdul. He is also presently the youngest MP at the age of 27.
